Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift

Job Purpose
AkzoNobel is looking for a 2nd shift Maintenance Technican to join our Waukegan team. Appy today!!
Position Hours: 2:00pm- 10:30pm Monday- Friday

Perform routine, preventive and emergency repairs on building and grounds, laboratory, and manufacturing equipment to ensure on-time delivery of quality products to our valued customers and to preserve Akzo Nobel’s investment in the facility and the grounds.

Key Accountabilities

* Analyzes mechanical, problems on assigned equipment, plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary repairs and adjustments to maintain maximum production efficiency and quality. Tests equipment operation after repairs or installations is completed and notifies necessary persons of equipment operational status. Assists with new equipment installations as needed. – 35%
* Performs minor repairs on roofing systems, flooring, concrete, drywall repair and painting. Repairs, and replaces lighting, process, pneumatic, and water piping (potable and fire protection). Moves furniture, miscellaneous boxes and files as required. Assists with inventory management and keeps storerooms and shop neat and clean. Snow removal and salting of parking lots and walkways and driving to various vendors to procure parts. – 10%
* Performs preventive/predictive maintenance on assigned equipment by visually inspecting, greasing, testing safety switches, measuring with go-no-go gauges, recording critical information, oil analysis etc. and reporting adverse findings to the Maintenance Manager. To maximize equipment up-time potential problems are identified and either repaired immediately or scheduled for repairs to eliminate breakdowns during operation. – 30%
* Complies with all HSE policies and reports any concerns, which may have an adverse impact on health safety and the environment. Attends monthly safety meetings, maintains a neat, clean and safe work area, works safely and requires others to work safely also. Corrects or notifies supervisor of unsafe conditions. – 10%
* Adheres to site security policies, workplace violence, entry procedures, weekend and evening site security policy, smoking policy etc. Performs repairs on perimeter security gates, fences and resets boiler and air compressor alarms. Assists with the repair of alarm switches, wiring and cameras. Assists with testing of the fire alarm system flow switches, pull stations, deluge systems, diesel fire pump, booster pump and foam tanks. – 10%
* Utilize Megamations CMMS (computerized maintenance management software) equipment look-up and inventory functions, update work orders function, input purchase orders and the use of vendor file functions. Utilizing report data from Megamations, reoccurring breakdowns and excess repair costs are examined, causes identified and fixes implemented which in turn reduce equipment down time and cost to maintain the equipment. – 5%


Required Experience
* Position requires a minimum of High School Diploma, vocational/military training or 2 years related experience.
* Must possess a valid and current driver’s license
* Must possess manual dexterity and have the ability to lift at least 55 pounds.
* Must be able to stand or walk for periods of eight to twelve hours.
* Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Must be able to use ladders, hoists, industrial trucks and material handling equipment.
* Must have the ability to wear a breathing apparatus and other associated HSE personal protective equipment 
* Must possess the ability to read and comprehend equipment repair manuals, standard operating procedures and work instructions.
* Must be proficient in the safe use of a wide variety of hand tools, measuring devices (tape measures calipers, gauges, micrometers etc.), power tools (table saw, cut off saw, bench grinders, sanders, routers etc.)
* Skillful in building and grounds maintenance carpentry, plumbing, pipefitting and related operations involving building repair and grounds maintenance.
* Must be able and willing to work overtime as required.
