Definition VIE
The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function. We are looking for highly motivated graduates aged 18 to 28 years, who are citizens of the European Union (all E.U. nationals, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). A VIE contract position as a "Connected Industrial Resources Engineer" is available at Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Hamburg. You will join the Industrial Product Line department. At our Hamburg assembly plant, you will join the team responsible for managing and optimizing our industrial resources. In a high-tech production environment, your mission will be to provide technical support and optimize the performance of our connected industrial tools.
Your location
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.

Your tasks and responsibilities
· Project Management & Deployment: You will lead the integration of new industrial equipment into the workshops and support operational teams in managing the change.
· Industrial Performance: You will measure and analyze the overall efficiency of your equipment families.
· Product Line Engineering: You will apply the principles of the Product Line Engineering methodology to streamline the management of product/equipment families, promote standardization, and optimize the reuse of technical solutions.
· Cost Optimization & Continuous Improvement: You will be responsible for defining and implementing action plans aimed at reducing maintenance costs and boosting the competitiveness of the industrial equipment families under consideration. Business travel within Europe is required once a month, and therefore, you must be willing to travel accordingly.
· You possess the following experience and skills
Desired skills and qualifications
· Engineering degree with experience/training in the following areas:
· IIoT Architecture: Understanding of machine communication protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus) to ensure the collection of field data.
· Data Analytics & Visualization: Proficiency in Business Intelligence tools to transform raw OEE data into actionable dashboards.
· Data Management: Basic knowledge of databases (SQL) and data processing (Python/Pandas or advanced Excel) to automate performance reports.
· Adaptability & Fieldwork: Ability to step away from your computer to observe the machines and discuss with operators.
· Analytical Skills: Autonomy and ability to translate a complex technical problem into a simple performance indicator for management. A methodical approach to avoid getting lost in the mass of data and to identify root causes (Root Cause Analysis).
· Language Skills: Intermediate level in German and advanced level in English
