Airbus Helicopters is looking for an Avionics Architect (M/F) for our next generation avionics suite to join our Avionics and Systems Architecture Department, based in Marignane, France. This position will give the opportunity to the candidate to strongly develop technical skills with a full immersion in the Commercial Aircraft division in Toulouse (around 6 months), after the on-boarding in Helicopters business.

The main missions of the Avionics and Systems Architecture department are, among others, to:

· 
Anticipate future needs and possible avionics solutions, from concept analysis up to feasibility during Research and Pre-Dev stages,

· 
To ensure retrofit & upgrades of our fleet in service,

· 
To keep our avionics up-to-date (obsolescence solving, avionics improvements, introduction of new capabilities/features), in the frame of future developments,

· 
To define, develop and certify the most effective avionics solutions,

· 
To participate to avionics strategy at system level,

· 
To contribute to technology roadmaps,

· 
To contribute to System Engineering set-up for Avionics (process, methods & tools) and

· 
To manage transverse functions

Depending on the project stage, you will have to:

· 
Collect stakeholders needs (from Projects/Programs, Marketing, Support, end-users and customers),

· 
Define operational concepts and use-cases for the overall avionics,

· 
Perform functional analysis and define functional architecture (including functional flows),

· 
Specify all requirements (functional and non-functional ones) allocated to avionics system,

· 
Validate and cascade the overall set of avionics requirements to avionics functions,

· 
Define all avionics external interfaces,

· 
Propose the "most effective" avionics design, resulting from trade-off, based on constraints and all others influencing criteria (safety/availability, compliance to customer needs, cost/weight/volume, re-use, family concept, industrial strategy /partnerships, ...),

· 
Lead Filter Boards at avionics level for problem reports,

· 
Ensure the overall verification activities at avionics level,

· 
Prepare the technical substantiation materials for Qualification/Certification at avionic level - lead the flight clearance activity -

· 
Perform interface with other helicopter systems (vehicle, ...) and ground segment / open world.

During your temporary immersion in Airbus Commercial, in Toulouse, with technical support from the IMA (Integrated Modular Avionics) Platform Technical Referent, the jobholder will be responsible for the on-board software integration for Integrated Modular Avionics computers on several Programs (mainly A350 and also A400M, A380 and future projects):

· 
Collect various needs from a wide range of systems, in relation with internal stakeholders in different sites and Engineering teams of Airbus

· 
Allocate integrated modular avionic platform resources (memory, CPU time, inputs/outputs…) to the different system software applications hosted on the integrated modular avionic platform, and create an overall configuration of the platform. Integrate all system software applications together on the integrated modular avionic platform

· 
Generate and deliver a software configuration file to be uploaded on the integrated modular avionic platform on aircraft

· 
Prepare validation & verification and certification documentation, in compliance with safety-critical certified processes and methodologies, and in collaboration with user-systems, and experts and senior engineers in the team

· 
When necessary, request technical support from the IMA Avionics Platform Technical Referent

· 
Steer operationally and ensure performance and deliveries of subcontractors working with him/her on specific contracted engineering work

This position will allow the candidate to build up his/her professional network across all Airbus ecosystems, in both Helicopters and Commercial divisions, get a detailed knowledge of all aircraft systems and to gain a deep and recognized experience of safety-critical avionics equipment development.

On a daily basis, you will also have to play a key role in System Engineering approaches deployment, promoting the extended usage of state-of-the art MBSE methodologies and monitoring such a deployment within Avionics Architecture System domain, from requirements but also during design and intermediate stages to ultimate V&V process. You will act also strong support to broadcast such a way of working to all others stakeholders you will have to work with.

A System Engineering process, based on ARP4754, is supporting all the daily tasks and requires a certain level of formalization.
