Description of the job
A vacancy for a Technical Writer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join „TASSD5 - Technical Publicaton Eurofighter GE". We are having multiple openings for this vacancy.

Tasks & accountabilities
Technical documentation is an essential component for the safe, effective and economical operation of military aircraft. This is a prerequisite for fulfilling and maintaining full operational capability for test/training purposes and the military mission.
The technical writer creates and changes the maintenance documentation for maintenance crews (ground crews) by converting complex technical facts and functionality of the aircraft systems into a user-oriented description, which is published in the form of an electronic user system. The technical writer acts as mediator between the manufacturer and the customer.
Main responsibilities:
· Preparation of service descriptions and cost estimates
· Analysis of hardware and software related aircraft modifications and testing for effects in the technical documentation.
· Planning and incorporation of the necessary changes into the technical documentation using validity/configuration databases and tools
Editorial activities:
· Creation of user-oriented descriptions and maintenance procedures for aircraft systems according to ASD standards in structured, modularized markup languages such as XML or SGML. For this purpose the ASD-Specification S1000D is to be used
· Illustration of texts on the basis of CATIA 3D models for standardised drawing creation in cooperation with the illustration department
· Independent execution of engineering change management or creation of relevant technical documentation according to the ASD specification S1000D/Industry standard
Customization of technical documentation:
· Customization of technical documentation for the German Air Force taking into account national requirements, regulations and maintenance concepts

Required skills
· Completed studies in a technical/scientific field or comparable technical education
· Experience in aircraft technology and support
· Ability to describe complex technical issues in a didactically correct manner using easily understandable language
· Enthusiasm for editorial processes and new technologies
· Ability and willingness to work in a team
· Good knowledge of tools and databases as well as MS-Office skills
· Fluent in German and English
· Knowledge of the ASD S1000D specification, weapon system-specific regulations and handling of construction documents for the respective weapon system are desirable
· First project management experience is an advantage
