A vacancy for a Principle Product Assurance Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth.

Explore New Horizons - A vacancy has arisen for a Principal Product Assurance Engineer in Airbus DS in Portsmouth. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the relevant quality assurance controls of a project (including hardware, software and services) are in accordance with the contractual requirements and those compatible with the Airbus DS Quality Management System.

The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.

Tasks & accountabilities

The prime duties that the Principal Product Assurance Engineer is required to perform by personal involvement and/or delegation to their team are:-

·  To estimate and control all quality costs directly associated with their team, to co-ordinate the preparation of related cost estimates for other quality related resources
·  To undertake the preparation of quality/PA plans and regular monitoring of progress
·  To ensure that adequate work instructions and records are maintained during the design, manufacture and test of the equipment
·  Supporting risk review meetings at all stages of the design, development, and installation and in conjunction with the project team, ensuring that risk retirement plans are drawn up and carried out
·  Attend all significant programme, engineering and management meetings and shall ensure that both in-house teams and subcontractors adhere to the PA Requirements
·  Review and approve all deliverable configured drawings, documents and procedures and their subsequent amendments
·  Participate in Design Reviews ensuring that the quality requirements are fully addressed and that all open actions are completed
·  To ensure that adequate qualification evidence exists to justify the materials and processes that will be used in the system
·  Ensure that all unqualified materials or processes are captured and each item progressed to a satisfactory conclusion
·  To ensure that subcontractor product assurance requirements are implemented and ensure that adequate records are maintained to monitor the performance of the subcontractors
·  To ensure that all contractual Customer inspections are planned and conducted
·  Chair manufacturing readiness reviews for equipment to ensure that adequate preparation has been taken to allow the assembly to proceed correctly
·  To ensure that Configuration Control Procedures are defined and implemented in a manner that will permit full reconciliation of the build against the designed hardware and software
·  To ensure that the manufacturing and test departments maintains adequate work instructions, and that records are maintained during the assembly, integration and test at System level
·  Rview all test plans, procedures and reports at all levels
·  Test Readiness Reviews to ensure that adequate preparation has been taken for assembly & test engineers to proceed with the test programme
·  Propose solutions for all major quality problems and to advise and generally assist on quality matters. This will involve initiating and organising quality investigations for timely solutions to technical/procedural problems and chairing investigations through the non-conformance system
·  To chair and ensure that adequate documentation is in place for the test review board and maintain a high level of visibility on ensuring all actions are closed prior to the delivery review board
·  Ensure resolution of issues arising from the review of the acceptance datapack

Required skills

Essential requirements:

Experience and aerospace, space, or military background.
Knowledge of quality systems and national standards
Good communication and facilitation skills
Experience in either:

·  Satellite ground systems or operations,
·  Large telecoms projects,
·  Air traffic control systems,
·  Or any similar network software environment

Ability to recognise quality issues and drive solutions to their resolution.
Valid driving licence.

Desirable requirements:

Knowledge of company quality systems and standards
Knowledge of Product Assurance requirements for space application
HNC / Degree in appropriate technical subject
Experience of team management and leadership

International travel, sometimes required at short notice within UK / Europe
