Description of the job

A vacancy for an Occupational Health Nurse Advisor has arisen within Airbus at Broughton. The main purpose of this role is to provide clinical support to the Occupational Health Department in a customer and quality-focused manner, which supports the overall business objectives, and ensure the service delivery meets both legal and business requirements.

This role gives the successful candidate the opportunity to be immersed into a supportive team covering a wide range of topics.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Case management: complete comprehensive functional capability assessments on employees either who are absent from work, or referred by the line manager, giving advice to both the employee and business regarding fitness to work.
·  Health surveillance: perform the required health surveillance procedures and interpret results in line with department procedure / policy. Advising the employee and business, when appropriate, of the outcome of the results.
·  Production and maintenance of confidential medical records. Adhering to the standards as defined by the NMC and the internal policies and procedures.
·  Participate in development of health promotion programmes designed to inform and educate workers about health issues at work.
·  Respond to an injured / unwell employee in line with departmental policies.
·  Adhere to departmental and company policies and procedures.
·  In dealing with emergencies, is able to co-ordinate and make life saving decisions.
·  Effective time management, ability to complete consultations and medical records to a high standard within the scheduled appointment time.

Desired profile

Required skills

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies:

·  Registered General Nurse level 1,12.
·  Qualification in Occupational Health.
·  NEBOSH certificate desirable but not essential.
·  Certified HAVS assessor.
·  Occupational Health experience working in industry is essential, experience of the aerospace industry would be an advantage.
·  Practical experience in Occupational Health Nursing.
·  Industrial Audiometry/Spirometry certificate and other specialist skills desirable.
·  Interpersonal, communication and motivational skills.
·  Negotiation level of English is required for this role.
