Master Thesis: Human aspects of change in digital transformation (d/f/m)

Problem statement

As the aviation industry continues to evolve in response to technological advancements and changing market dynamics, digital transformation has emerged as a critical imperative for organizations seeking to remain competitive and innovative. However, while much attention has been focused on the technological aspects of this transformation, the human dimension is equally essential for success. Employees play a central role, yet they may face challenges such as resistance, skill gaps, and uncertainty about their evolving roles in the digital landscape. Our goal in Cabin & Cargo Systems Engineering at Airbus is to understand and effectively address these human factors to maximize the potential benefits of digital transformation initiatives. 

Against this background, this master thesis should delve into the complexities of the human aspect of digital transformation within the Cabin & Cargo Systems Engineering teams, exploring how changes in employee roles, skills, and organizational culture influence the implementation and outcomes of digital initiatives. 

Your tasks and responsibilities

· 
Conduct in-depth research on the human factors associated with digital transformation, including changing employee roles and skills, resistance to change, and effective change management strategies

· 
Collaborate with departmental stakeholders to understand current workflows, identify pain points, and assess readiness for digital transformation

· 
Analyze the impact of digital technologies on employee roles and responsibilities, including potential job redesign and skill requirements

· 
Explore the role of leadership in fostering a culture of innovation, learning, and collaboration to support successful digital transformation

· 
Develop recommendations for implementing change management strategies tailored to the specific needs and challenges of the Cabin & Cargo Systems Engineering 

· 
Document findings, insights, and best practices to contribute to the body of knowledge on digital transformation at Airbus

Required knowledge and qualifications

· 
You are an enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within Business Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Information Management, Business Informatics, Economics or similar

· 
Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources

· 
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders

· 
Self-motivated and proactive attitude with a passion for exploring new ideas and driving meaningful change

· 
Language skills: Fluent English and German is a plus
