Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.

AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support.  Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.

AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying school (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).

Description/Overall purpose of the Job

MFTS Maintenance Test Pilot – RAF Shawbury / RAF Valley

·  Conduct helicopter maintenance check and ferry flights between operator and customer bases.
·  Assist the Chief Test Pilot in day to day maintenance flight operations scheduling in conjunction with business demands.
·  Act as an MFTS aviation SME.

The main responsibilities of the post holder will be:

Under direction of the Chief Test Pilot and/or Head of MFTS:

·  Carry out day to day maintenance check flights and ground runs.
·  Ferry helicopters between customers and maintenance bases.
·  Support Sales by carrying out demonstration flights, producing performance data and training customers.

Under own initiative

·  Conduct maintenance flight tests & ground runs.
·  Liaise with MRO/Installations to plan maintenance check flights / ground runs.
·  Liaise with and advise  the Design Office on modifications and research regulations and design requirements.

   

The post holder would ideally have the following Knowledge and Skills:

ESSENTIAL

·  Be capable of holding both H135 and H145 type ratings.
·  Capable of holding a Class One EASA Medical.
·  Good communicator capable of representing AH UK both to commercial and military customers.
·  A good aviation background with an understanding of aircraft systems and engineering.

DESIRABLE

·  Have working knowledge of MAA 2000 series and CFAOS regulations.
·  Have working knowledge of CS27/29 & Part Ops.
·  Computer literate in MS Office desktop applications.

We require the post holder to have the following Education, Qualifications or special training:

ESSENTIAL

·  Hold a current EASA CPL(H) or equivalent.
·  Hold a current Instrument Rating (Multi-Engine).

DESIRABLE

·  Maintenance Check Flight training.

The post holder should have the following experience:

ESSENTIAL

·  Minimum of 2000 hours Multi-engine flying time with varied on-shore flying experience.
·  Minimum of 1 year operational experience on H135 and/or H145 with a recognized operator.

DESIRABLE

·  Ex-Military trained.
·  Instructor TRI/TRE Ratings.
·  NVG Qualifications & Experience.
·  Experience of CFAOS Operations.

Key performance indicators:

·  Conduct safe operational maintenance check activities in accordance with AHUK Flight Operations Manual and CFAOS.

Other requirements :

·  Team player with ability to work effectively under pressure on multiple tasks simultaneously.
·  Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
·  Ability to communicate internally and externally at all levels.
·  A reliable individual capable of working without close supervision in remote locations.
·  Ability to offer an alternative solution and general optimism.

·  No restrictions to travel within United Kingdom, France & Germany.
