In order to support the Radar Ground Systems department, Airbus Defence and Space is offering an

Internship in area simulations for integrated Ground Segment

(d/f/m)

Duration: 6 months

As trainee you will gain an overview about a real example of a Ground Segment for a complex Earth Observation mission and you will explore how to simulate its end-to-end planning capabilities.

The focus of our department is the design and implementation of turn-key solutions for complete Ground Segment, including data receiving stations, payload data processing and satellite control system.

Your tasks and responsibilities

· 
Design a generic simulated environment with which the Ground Segment will interact (architecture, functions, interfaces, reporting/visualization capabilities)

· 
Study a specific mission for implementation of simulated environment

· 
Implement simplified functions of the Ground Segment capable to interact with the simulated environment

· 
Implement the simulated environment for the chosen mission

· 
Demonstrate the end-to-end simulation capabilities

 Desired skills and qualifications

· 
Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in the area of Computer Science, Telecommunication or an equivalent field of study

· 
Good programming skills in Java

· 
Good knowledge of Linux environment and ReST paradigm, underlying protocols and relevant libraries

· 
Practical experience with micro service architectures

· 
Knowledge of cloud technology and of Ground Segment is an advantage

· 
Team-player, good communication and self-organising skills

· 
English: advanced, German: basic (any higher level is an advantage)
