You will be working in the overall Aircraft Architect department mainly focused on A350, within the Structures
Engineering Centre of Airbus in the UK.

This department is developing state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to detecting, locating and assessing structural damage in metallic and composite structures. These results are displayed live during testing to allow a full understanding of the health of the structure and to carry out the appropriate course of action.

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

You will be installing and monitoring structural health monitoring equipment on Airbus structures. This work will allow the detection of damage during testing, which is part of the technology qualification process.

You will develop wireless structural health monitoring for thick composite material in order to detect potential impact to the structure during assembly, such as tool drop or structure mishandling. The work also includes evaluation of component of the shelf parts under the influence of temperature, wireless range, impact level, and available energy in order to completely characterise the way the device works and define potential limitation.

You will also carry out some management tasks to widen her/his expertise to day-to-day managerial activities in industrial environment.

There may be the opportunity to visit other Airbus sites as part of your Internship.

Required skills

You must be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the Internship, studying towards an Engineering degree – preferably Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical. Other Engineering degree subjects including Electrical, Programming and Computer Engineering will be considered.

You should also have skills or experience of the following:
