Airbus, the world’s leading Aircraft manufacturer has exciting new job opportunities to join its Engineering teams at Filton, Bristol.
Core activities include the design, engineering and support for Airbus wings, fuel systems and landing gear Integration. We develop our people to work on systems, structures and aerodynamics research, development and test facilities.

An exciting opportunity for 2 electrical Design Engineers has arisen in Airbus as the Wing Electrical System Installation (ESI) UK Design Team in Filton (Bristol). The team is accountable to deliver Wing ESI Definition (Functional and Installation) for all Airbus programs under AUK responsibility.

The successful candidate will work within the Wing ESI UK Design Team and will have the opportunity to work transnationally across the business on all Airbus aircraft programs Wings under AUK responsibility. That includes current Wings, incremental development work; future concept designs for a brand new aircraft and supporting on service aircraft flee. Further opportunity to work for Wings under AID responsibility may arise as Filton and Bremen teams work in close cooperation since both belong to the overall Wing Electrics transnational team. Opportunity to work supporting activities on Wing ATA89 perimeter for new and incremental development Wing may also arise.

The job holder will be subject to UK national security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance business needs.

Desired profile

Tasks & accountabilities

The jobholder will be part of the electrical installation design team and will be accountable for Electrical Systems Functional and Installation definition on all Aircraft programs under AUK responsibility, and will report functionally and operationally to the Head of Electrical Systems Installation UK.
The main purpose of the role is to deliver approved innovative electrical designs and concepts in line with valid methods, processes and design principles to programme needs within time, quality and budget constraints.

As the successful candidate your principle activities will include:

o Create Functional and Installation definition Design data for manufacture in line with applicable Design processes and rules for the different programs.
o Produce Design schemes, support Design Reviews and Change Process to ensure ESI maturity is to required standards in a timely manner in line with Program requirements.
o Support the validation of design requirements and agreement of deviations with stakeholders if and when needed.
o Facilitate the integration of ESI with structure and other systems
o Evolve towards Technical Delegation on ESI Functional and Installation definition perimeter.
o Contribute to the capture and develop innovation ideas supporting Program rate increase and Non Recurrent Costs reduction targets.
o Support the capture of lessons learnt and continuous improvement.
o Reporting to the HO Wing ESI Filton if and when required.
o Project leadership if and when required.

Required skills

As the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills:

o Educated to a HNC or higher level in Engineering.
o English Advance level. Additional languages will be an advantage but are not compulsory.
o Proven appropriate technical knowledge skills
o Leadership and team working skills, ability to analyse and solve technical problems.
o Catia V5 skills are desirable. Catia Electrical Workbench experience would be a plus.
o Existing Design technical approval delegation (TAP) or short term route to such is desirable.
o Proven experience in the Aerospace industry is desirable.
o Proven Technical leadership of Systems Installation or Structures Engineering activities is desirable.
o Flexibility and engagement to ensure timely completion of critical activities
