Internship Job Description:
About Aircraft Flight Dynamics and Performance domain:
Our mission is to develop and integrate various aircraft aerodynamic, propulsion and systems models in order to produce dynamic and performance platforms that accurately predict aircraft behavior.
These platforms are used to extract the maximum performance from a given aircraft design, in compliance with regulations. They are also used by customers in simulators and to optimize the planning of aircraft operations.
We are present throughout the full aircraft life-cycle and we ensure the best-operational and safe use of the aircraft. We create value for our customers.
Our culture:
We are curious and open minded.
We work by embracing a high collaborative spirit, open discussion culture and empowerment of our teams.
We care for value-driven leadership and support flexible working environments.
We nurture and enjoy our multidisciplinary environment.
The main activities of an aircraft performance engineer are to:
· Establish Airbus vehicle overall performance in both the regulatory and operational frameworks, during the feasibility phase, design and development, operational service.
· Provide all required performance models, software and data for internal and external users, including Airbus marketing and operational support, design operators and suppliers of on board equipment.
· Provide support as required for performance related issues during vehicle operation. Provide technical support for performance optimization during vehicle certification and operational service.
· Develop performance functions implemented on-board aircraft systems and used by flight crews.
Main examples of tasks and responsibilities are:
· Contributing to aircraft design by providing analyses and answers to requests coming from our partners (Programs, design specialists, marketing...)
· Contributing to the flight test campaign strategy, preparation and follow up Elaboration, validation and justification of aircraft performance model based on flight tests results.
· Computation of performance analysis, status and trade-offs for our internal or external customers
· Contribution to the elaboration of technical dossiers and presentations in front of the airworthiness authorities
These tasks will allow you to get a multi-functional and fully transnational view: being accountable for the integration and adjustment of different models in close collaborations with different disciplines (aerodynamics, handling qualities , flight control laws, flight test, etc) provided you with a very good understanding of our business and the criticality of our engineering work for the airlines. As the low speed deliverables are mandatory to get the Type Certificate (and the TC date it is a consequence of the Airbus commitment with customer airlines) decisions taken in our area can have an direct impact on Airbus Commercial Business.
