An exciting opportunity for a Corrosion Prevention Principles and Sealing Engineer has arisen in Airbus Filton.
You will be supporting all aircraft programs through research, design, production and in-service to define, apply and maintain corrosion protection principles. In addition support to sealing enquiries advising on best practice according to process specifications may be required.

For this position, you will interface with various internal and external partners (sub-contractors, suppliers, designers etc.) and involves the provision of MPaT (materials, processes and test) expertise to a range of stakeholders including Design, Programme, Manufacturing Engineering, Production/Production Quality, Procurement/ Procurement Quality and In-Service Support

Tasks & accountabilities

The jobholder belongs to the technical team “Corrosion prevention principles, sealing and auxiliary materials”. Their manager is the Head of “Corrosion prevention principles, sealing and auxiliary materials”.

They will be responsible for delivery of a range of tasks, initially with a focus on dry bay improvements for the SA NEO and Support to landing gear for corrosion protection. This includes exchanges with specialists within ESCMB5 technical team, but as well into other technical team of ESCMB and ESCAA (Expert community).

o Develop and deploy of Materials, Processes and Test Technologies for mature design & build
o Provide corrosion protection concepts and solutions to enable design, build and operation of aircraft
o Ensure reactive support for improvement projects (performance improvement/cost and time reduction)
o Ensure EHS (Environment Health and Safety) regulations (REACh) thanks to eco-efficient materials & processes
o Adapt existing corrosion protection principles to a chromate free environment.
o Input corrosion experience and corrosion protection principles into new digital formats

This role will involve some travels (about 6 per year) for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Required skills

As the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate the following:

o Degree in Engineering, Materials science, Chemistry or equivalent
o An experience in Material and Processes and/or in Corrosion Chemistry is mandatory
o An experience in Project Management would be an advantage
o Ability in complex problem solving
o Knowledge of surface treatments, paints and sealants, their application to various materials and role in corrosion protection
o Good communication skills with high ability to influence
o Team spirit, curiosity and strong autonomy
o Advanced level in English
