Description of the job

A vacancy for a Communications Systems Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth. You will work in our Terminals team within our Secure Communications group and report to the Head of Terminals.

You will have a background in Communications System Engineering, experience of working directly with customers and be comfortable presenting ideas / concepts to the customer.

The successful candidate will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check) in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
- End-to-end communications, specifically RF Satcom system design and development
- Ground terminal system design
- Communications System test strategy development and Validation, Verification and Test plan documentation
- System specification development
- System design studies
- End-to-end network performance analysis (capacity, QoS performance)
- Requirements analysis
- System sub-element specification
- Interfacing with Management Segment, modems and complex antenna systems.

This role will involve occasional travel for business, likely within UK and possibly USA.

Required skills

- Communications system design and implementation
- Requirements management and tracing
