A vacancy for a Communications Manager AD CEO / EC Positioning & Thought Leadership (w, m, d) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Ottobrunn/Taufkirchen. The successful applicant will join “GT - Global Communications Partner Defence and Space”. You will report directly to the Head of Sustainability and Communications of Airbus Defence and Space. You will play an important part in our organisation as CEO communication promotes the reputation and the image of Airbus,its executives and other EC members sustainably. As such, you will ensure a smooth consultancy / co-ordination process between Airbus corporate functions, Divisions and external stakeholders. You will make Airbus’ voice, story and brand heard by key audiences  as well as linking CEO communication to Media Relations, Internal Communications, Social Media, Public Affairs, Investor Relations and Protocol and Events. In short: you will make sure that senior Airbus Defence and Space stakeholders are well prepared to communicate effectively in high pressure situations. ​

Purpose of the job

· 
Responsible for defining and implementing the Thought Leadership strategy for the CEO and, occasionally, other members of the Executive Committee (EC) of Airbus Defence and Space

· 
Responsible for raising the profile of CEO and the EC both nationally and internationally in alignment with company strategy & objectives, in collaboration with Political Affairs, Internal and External Communications to define audience and channel strategy

· 
Develop and use relevant KPIs to measure and evaluate performance and progress towards goals and adjust as required

· 
Responsible for analysing public, political and customer sentiment in home nations (D/E/F/UK), Americas and RoW wrt AD positioning narrative - and íterate context responsive key messages with the CEO and the EC accordingly

· 
Responsible for identifying adequate positioning possibilities for the CEO and the EC based on qualified ROI (reach, outreach, impact)

· 
Responsible for building and updating a message platform defining and continuously iterating the Division’s appropriate position on key topics towards the relevant audiences in AD home nations and regions; writing and editing a broad range of communications assets in both English and German, on occasion also for other EC members, tailoring language, tone, style, and format to target audience

· 
Responsible for crafting professional internal and external communications assets (speeches, presentations, scripts, etc) in collaboration with relevant stakeholders

· 
Responsible for a persuasive and transparent representation of Airbus top executives to key industrial, political and societal stakeholders

· 
Contact person to the CEO for creating communications appearances. Provides strategic analysis, guidance, and language, including short-, mid- and long-term positioning and messaging on key topics both internally and externally.

· 
Ensuring CEO message alignment with the company purpose, strategic focus topics, and business priorities, including regional specificities; interacting frequently and challenging where necessary with key stakeholders to remain up to date on company strategy and priorities

Requirements of the jobholder:

· 
Absolutely mandatory: Excellent/professional writing and editing skills in fluent English and German with the ability to recognize and identify top-level messages and to refine and integrate those messages into efficient communications

· 
Proven track record in geopolitical / defence-industrial journalism, publishing or content creation

· 
Practical experience in Media Relations, Internal Communications, Social media. Experience with stakeholder relations, knowledge of national and international communications landscape

· 
University degree with several years of professional experience in Executive Communications, ideally within a high performing international environment

· 
Understanding of the different styles of writing required

· 
Strong interpersonal, networking and listening skills

· 
Ability to understand differences in nuance and tone of language

· 
Versatility in using various channels, targeting multiple audiences by a variety of styles

· 
Excellent research and analytical skills

· 
Willingness to travel
