Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
Contributing to pre-operational and operational activities for product and system development, especially in the frame of the TanDEM-X / WorldDEM programme:

·  Definition and analysis of DEM (Digital Elevation Model)-related specifications & processes for both operational and future products
·  Transfer of prototype processes and products to operational production
·  Configuration-, quality- and requirements management
·  Preparation and conduction of in-house and external trainings
·  Documentation (e.g. specifications, software-related documents like functional descriptions, training material, manuals)

Contributing to the development of the in-house DEM Editing Software DEMES:

·  Requirements definition and discussion with external software developers as well as customers by understanding software and workflow
·  Preparation and conduction of software tests
·  Management and maintenance of development tools (e.g. Mantis Bug Tracking tool, Testia Tarantula, Testcomplete ) and databases

Performing of DEM- & Mapping-related R&D activities with an emphasis on the Elevation and SAR-product line

·  Application development based on existing processes and customer requirements
·  Executing feasibility studies and creating prototypes in discussion with internal and external customers

This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Desired profile

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  University Degree in (Geo-) Informatics / Computer Science or related field or equivalent or according education with working experience
·  Excellent analytical abilities
·  Experience in working with remote sensing data, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and processing software (e.g. ERDAS IMAGINE)
·  Experience with EO-data based products and respective processes
·  Ability to work in a multicultural/international team
·  Experience in programming (C++ / Python) is an advantage
·  Experience in handling large geo datasets as well as metadata (ISO/INSPIRE and XML, XSD) is an advantage
·  Experience with Project Management is an advantage
·  Fluent in English, additional languages are an advantage
