Job Description

Start date: June 2020 or earlier (academic term allowing)

Location:  Portsmouth, Earth

We are looking for an ‘Interstellar’ Intern who has the 'Right Stuff'  to join us for a solar year and who will always be 'The First' with the news for our colleagues who are working on some 'Ad Astra' space projects including 'The Martian' rover built in Stevenage and our own 'Avatar' projects here in Portsmouth.

We’re hoping we’ve caught your eye, here at Airbus in the UK’s Defence and Space Communication and Events team.  Like our favourite space movies, we like to do things that are out of this world and that often means working on space-related company news stories and events for local, national and international audiences.

We’re looking for someone who will bring a touch of stardust to our internal news channels from an eye-catching poster campaign to must-read articles and captivating videos.

It would really help if you have an interest and some knowledge of the fantastic products Airbus Space makes.

But really the most important thing is what makes you tick. You must have a passion for people, be self-motivated and like ‘ET’ not afraid to pick up the phone and talk to colleagues of all levels.

In return you will gain terrific skills and experience working as part of a pan-European team handling all internal communication across the UK, France, Germany and Spain as well as promoting our fabulous site events such as Pride@Portsmouth, VIP visits and media days.

So what do we want from you?

·  Currently studying towards a degree in Journalism, Communications, PR, Media, Business or related subject
·  An interest in space, aerospace and some knowledge of the fantastic products Airbus designs
·  Excellent communications and organisational skills
·  Flexibility

In return for giving us your passion, determination and commitment you will enjoy flexible working hours, employee benefits and some terrestrial travel. In your free time you can join the Young Professional Association here in Portsmouth along with 40+ interns and grads who regularly take part in social, charity and space sector events.

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is essential for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

We look forward to hearing from you.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

By submitting your CV or application you are consenting to Airbus using and storing information about you for monitoring purposes relating to your application or future employment. This information will only be used by Airbus.
Airbus is committed to achieving workforce diversity and creating an inclusive working environment. We welcome all applications irrespective of social and cultural background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.
