Earth Observation, Navigation and Science ("ENS"), part of Airbus Defence & Space, is a global leader in charge of designing, manufacturing and delivering complex end-to-end space systems, satellites, instruments (radar, opticals), and ground segments
systems.
In the UK, ENS is in charge / involved on numerous large space programs, among others:
- Earth Observation: Aeolus, Biomass, Sentinel 5 Precursor, CSO, EarthCare
- Navigation: Galileo GCS FOC, Egnos
- Scientific programs: Solar Orbiter, Exomars Rover, Bepi Colombo, Lisa Pathfinder, Rosetta
- Radar and Optical Instruments: NovaSAR, MetOp-SG
A vacancy has arisen within ENS in Portsmouth (UK), to join the finance team as a Project Controlling Assistant.
The Project Controlling Assistant primarily will be responsible for assisting Project Controllers in the day to day running of prime projects, including project reporting, analysis, controlling, escalation calculation and claims. You will gain extensive experience in specific project issues, and should have the potential after training to take on more responsibility for running small projects,gaining valuable exposure to the Earth Observation,Navigation & Science environment.
The candidate will gain a transversal view on large multi-years spacecraft programs, as he/she will be involved on all aspects of the projects (schedule, technical, risk management, work packages management, supply chain management, commercial negotiations…). Also, this position will provide with an exciting exposure to the world of European space programs, as the main customer for ENS programs is the European Space Agency (ESA).
The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function.
We are looking for highly motivated graduates aged 18 to 28 years, who are citizens of the European Union (all E.U. nationals, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). Candidates meeting these criteria and interested in a VIE, please register before your

Tasks:
- Financial planning, monitoring, controlling and reporting of the project performance against targets
- Comprehensive and autonomous financial administration of programs
- Provide quantitative and qualitative support for discussions and decision-making at project and management level
- Anticipate problems, proposing ways to improve the project financial position in an independent manner
- Produce on a timely and in an accurate manner the monthly project reports and the quarterly full updates of the project financial status
Skills:
We are looking for candidates with the following skills:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with a keen interest in Finance
- Interest in Aeronautics / Space industry
- Good understanding of MS Office packages, particularly Excel
- Some work experience in a Finance capacity
