AGC Building & Industrial, a European leader in flat glass.

Job reporting : The AES Pilot reports to the local plant manager of the business unit with direct functionality lead by AES Lean Coordinator.
AES means AGC Excellence System : It is a global system that integrates Philosophy, Technics and Management with the Human development as the center of the system. The global system creates methods and promote implementation.
AES is based on Lean Management which is an approach to running an organization that supports the concept of continuous improvement, a long-term approach to work that systematically seeks to achieve small, incremental changes in processes in order to improve efficiency and quality.
Philosophy of the AES are : Customer first, people is the most important value, continuous and infinite progress and go & study the shop floor.
Technics : continuous flow and one piece flow.
Management with the kaizen spirit.
Purpose of the job :
Lead actions and make sustainable improvements in the Scope of AES (improvement of SEQCDDM : Safety, Environment, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Development and Management).
1 Targets definition :
- Perform the MIFA (Material and Information Flow Analysis) and establish the MIFD (MIF Diagram) actual, ideal and target
- SEQCDDM targets defined with the Plant Manager, with the support and validation from the AES Leader
- example : reduce rework, productivity, lead time reduction, ergonomic improvement…
2 Initiatives definitions and lead :
- Define, with the Plant Manager, and lead initiatives, with a deadline to get the defined targets
- example : Standardized Works, SMED, TPM, Hoshin, 0 rework, Quality workshop, pull flow, Visual Mgt, line feeding, 5S, FIFO/Flat storage, creation of Autonomous Production Groups or Units, …
3 Animation :
- create working groups with a pilot. Support the pilot with methodology, train the group, ensure good tracking and respect of the principles and attitude.
- Diffuse the AES principles, tools and attitudes to the whole Plant and its Division contacts
4 Installation :
- during workshop, support the physical implementation, define corrective actions if results not achieved
5 Reporting :
- report to the Plant Manager, the progress of actions, the blocking point, the results
Enhance, develop, initiate and follow-up Process & Operations improvements projects and activities, supporting the production plants implementing actions, challenging the status-quo and coaching the improvement process. The main focus of the job is to promote and encourage waste elimination. Develop and growth continuous improvement mindset, remove obstacles and set challenges and goals so that the teams at all levels of the organization can contribute to continuous improvement.
He/she has a key role in:
- Initiate Improvement projects linked to business objectives;
- Implement and sustain the AES System & AGC Way Strategy
- Coach and guide improvement activities and initiatives;
- Follow up of improvement projects;
- Collect and share good operational practices across the business units & plants;
- Challenging the status-quo and drive change & process innovation;
- PDCA (Plan , Do , Check and Act) mindset
- Implement Lean Management System
It is crucial for this role to have the following profile:
- Engineering degree – production, industrial or mechanical/electrical;
- Conceptualization skills (translation from/into concepts, handling of abstract principles, elaboration, systematization and rationalization
- Continuous Improvement knowledge and methodologies;
- Team working skills (division level, plant management level and shop floor)
- Good animation and presentation skills
- Organizational and analytical skills;
- Action oriented, shop floor oriented, people oriented
- Standard driven, Quality oriented and adaptable;
- Ability to think and act both strategically and operationally;
- Excellent communication and networking skills;
- Influencing skills and trainer/coaching experience in improvement methodologies;
- +/
- 2 years of relevant experience in fabrication/industrial environment;
- Some degree of Lean manufacturing experience / Toyota Way is an advantage
- English language is mandatory : Knowledge of other European languages is an advantage;
- Ability to travel (support to key workshop in other plants, division meeting, go-and-see activities;
