Job description

The Caledonia Water Alliance is a partnership between AECOM and Morrison Utility Services to support the delivery of £360 million of capital investment on behalf of Scottish Water over the next six years. CWA services consist of programme management, design, rehabilitation and construction of pipeline and distribution network projects across Scotland.

In line with the growth of CWA we are actively looking to expand the team with the addition of talented and enthusiastic CAD Technicians to work with our office based design teams delivering potable water pipeline projects including all associated civil engineering inputs.

Based in Deerdykes you will have the opportunity to work on deliverable outputs for the reports and detailed designs of potable water mains and networks within a challenging framework of projects. This is a team based role with responsibility for timeous delivery of quality outputs, interfacing with designers and Project Managers as required to progress delivery.

As a CAD Technician you will be responsible for:

  • Producing accurate drawings and details for water mains rehabilitation projects.
  • Liaise with internal and external Design teams, clients and contractors as appropriate.
  • Attend design review meetings.
  • Review and comment on CAD drawings on the project to ensure compliance with the project CAD requirements.
  • Deliver safe and economic designs.

The following will be required for this role:

  • Educated to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant subject such as CAD, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
  • Ideally some experience of working as a CAD technician.
  • The ability to transfer engineering sketches to CAD drawings.
  • An understanding of basic industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCad.
