Rockport’s College Trainee Program (Internship)
The Rockport Company is currently looking for an Information Technology Spring 2016 Trainee (Intern) to join our Information Technology (IT) team in Canton, MA. Trainees generally work 16-24 hours per week. This program is unpaid and is for college credit only. All offers are contingent upon receiving written approval from your advisor prior to your start date.
In This Program You Will:
· Assist with network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
· Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
· Record, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution
· Attend departmental meetings and training as required
· Perform other related tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management
Qualifications:
· Currently enrolled in a undergraduate program of study emphasizing Information Technology or Computer Science
· Basic understanding of computer hardware and software.
· An interest in providing Desktop/Helpdesk support to a variety of users (both Hardware and Software)
· Network analysis fundamentals and troubleshooting skills
· Comfortable with T1's, setting up QoS, separating voice endpoints on their own VLAN, applying custom inbound / outbound rules to the firewall, etc
· Able and ready to learn and support new systems and applications
· Advanced computer skills in (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
· Excellent communication skills.
· Interest and willingness to continue personal and professional growth and skill development
Preference will be given to undergraduate Juniors and Seniors, as well as graduate students.

This position is an unpaid credit-only role and students will be responsible for their own transportation and housing. Preference will be given to students enrolled in a Massachusetts or Rhode Island undergraduate or graduate program as the program may be extended to the Summer 2016 semester.
