Purpose
The role is to assist in minimizing the adidas Group’s effective tax rate and ensuring that the U.S. group is compliant with both U.S. federal, state and local tax laws.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare domestic aspects of the U.S. federal income tax return using CorpTax software. This includes calculating taxable income of U.S. entities, determining book-to-tax adjustments and ensuring that intercompany transactions are properly addressed.
· Assemble documentation for international and domestic aspects of the U.S. federal income tax return (e.g., Forms 1120, 5471/5472) and prepare international and U.S. forms for separate filing (e.g., Forms 1042, FBAR).
· Complete state and city income/franchise tax returns using CorpTax software. This includes preparing separate company, consolidated and unitary returns, entering state apportionment data and determining state tax return adjustments.
· Assist with other state tax matters, including preparing state quarterly estimated and annual extension tax payments, responding to notices from various tax authorities and providing income and sales tax audit support.
· Address U.S. aspects of quarterly and annual year-end financial statements, preparing U.S. entities’ individual provisions, determining state attributes, and analyzing current and deferred tax accounts.
· Keep abreast of tax law changes, as well as research issues and document positions.
· Responsible for tax dept. administrative activities such as processing tax returns, reviewing tax correspondence, updating the tax compliance due date tracker, maintaining the tax notice/audit log, maintaining the inventory of tax files that are stored onsite and offsite, ordering supplies, and setting up meetings with tax advisors.
· Assist with special projects, such as preparing documentation for tax audits
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Solid interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
· Knowledgeable of CorpTax
· SAP or equivalent experience
· Strong systems’ knowledge, with the ability to quickly learn new systems
· Ability to understand and use financial data to make decisions and influence outcomes
Requisite Education and Experience
· B.S. in Accounting
· 1-4 years of accounting experience in a large corporate setting, tax experience is a plus
