Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
Responsible for the overall administration and compliance for the Foreign Trade Zone Program within the organization. The purpose of implementing a foreign trade zone is to save money, gain efficiencies and defer duty payments for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
· Preparation and submission of FTZ related customs forms, annual reports and all other supporting documentation to ensure the organization meets government regulations.
· Responsible for all compliance activities with regards to customs regulations and the operation of a foreign trade zone environment.
· This position will work directly with US Customs to co-ordinate all issues relating to the use of FTZ for Inbound foreign goods.
· Daily activities will include inventory control processes including reconciliation and verification of all inventory movement, auditing procedures, and verification of all files for accuracy.
· Through proper administration, the position ensures that the overall organization will have increased inventory turns and positively impact the cash flow.
Key Relationships:
· Internal: Warehouse Operations, Inventory Control, Inbound /Outbound Traffic, Export, Finance, US Customs Classification, Security and Vendor Compliance.
· External: FTZ software provider, Steamship Lines, Customs Broker and US Customs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Working knowledge of Imports, Exports, US Customs Brokerage, US Customs Classification, inventory control systems, warehousing and logistics activities.
· Strong practical knowledge of the US Foreign Trade Zone Program, customs compliance and best practices.
· Self-motivated, engaged and positive team player with excellent communication an interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet daily deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
· PC literate – strong Access and Excel skills.
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret governmental regulations.
· Being well organized and a self-starter is a must.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
· College Degree or relevant work experience
· 3-5 years experience in Customs Brokerage, Imports, Foreign Trade Zones, Inventory Control or Supply Chain.
· Must submit fingerprint cards and pass US Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement background checks.
