Job description

Actemium, an international Electrical Services organisation with a global turnover of €2.8 billion and based in over 40 countries is looking to recruit a SHEQ Manager to join its Support office. The ideal candidate will have SHEQ experience and have worked in any of the following industries; Manufacturing, Engineering, Electrical or Construction. 

The SHEQ Business Partner will provide support to the Perimeter Director and the Business Units within the Industrial Perimeter to ensure the effective application of Company SHEQ requirement across all Business Units. Covering Electrical, Mechanical and Panel Building activities across Industrial, Nuclear & Defence, Transportation, Retail and Healthcare market segments. Design, Build and Maintain. They are required to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Operational and Administrative staff across the Perimeter. They will possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, have strong commercial awareness, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. They will report directly to the Perimeter Director and indirectly to the VE UK RoI Head of SHEQ (providing monthly reports and feedback at Group Level).

Key objectives:

  • Responsible for the monitoring, compliance and facilitating the continuous improvement of the Actemium UK Limited and Actemium Design UK Business Management Systems throughout the Company and it’s BUs.
  • Supports the BUs with their Carbon footprint reduction plans and advises on Environmental and Sustainability queries where required.
  • Advises and supports the Business Unit General Managers and operational staff by providing and interpreting SHEQ legislation, regulations and practices to ensure operational relevance.
  • Provides support in ensuring that the rules, principles, initiatives and requirements of the Group are met
  • Ensuring the Company meets all its reporting obligations with respect to Safety, Environmental and Quality
  • Maintain the Company ISO accreditations.

Desired profile

Qualifications and training:

  • HND / Degree in a relevant discipline is ideal.
  • A relevant Environmental Qualification and membership of a recognised Environmental Management body eg IEMA.
  • A minimum of a NEBOSH general/construction certificate, and working towards CMIOSH.

Technical skills and experience:

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills are imperative for this role. The person will need to be a confident communicator, across all levels both internally and externally.
  • Ability to translate SHEQ priorities in to clear and effective strategic objectives.
  • Friendly and approachable manner, able to build and sustain relationships based on trust and mutual co-operation at all levels.
  • An eye for detail, focused on quality and accuracy, within a in a face paced environment, without compromising deadlines.
  • Ability to use sound judgement to ensure the correct SHEQ actions are taken and the appropriate messages are delivered.
  •  A strong working knowledge of all relevant SHEQ legislation, procedures and associated requirements (and their impact on day to day operational activities), gained within an Electrical Contracting environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical installations and associated plant and equipment, gained from previous relevant experience.
  • Experienced in the development, application and monitoring of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 systems.
  • Experience of interfacing with external customers to ensure our employees adhere to their safety procedures, policies, and work practices to the full satisfaction of the client company. 
  • Knowledge of SHEQ Packages desirable.
  • Able to plan and deliver projects within agreed timeframes

  • A self-starter who can work on their own initiative but also to work effectively as part of a team.
