Key tasks

We are Novotel Auckland Airport, a premium 263-hotel room located on the doorstep of the airport International Terminal. The Square Restaurant is the gateway to New Zealand for exquisite food and beverage service. Our menus have been designed with ingredients sourced from some of New Zealand's finest regions. Our talented Executive Chef, Nancye Pirini leads a brigade of exceptional culinary minds and is in the lookout for a passionate and driven Culinary professional to join our team. This is a wonderful opportunity to expand the taste buds of the A La Carte area while keeping busy with the variety of this role – including Pastry and Banquets service.

Responsibilities:
- Cook for a la carte, buffet, room service and functions.
- Ensure that all Food Safety and OSH requirements are adhered to.
- Ensure effective communication with the Food and Beverage departments
- Preparing mis en place, ensuring there are adequate levels for service
- Assisting other sections if they require help
- Control the pass as required maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment
- Flexible approach in adapting to guest requests
- Assisting the Chef de Partie to ensure that food standards are maintained according to established recipes and standards

Essential and optional requirements

- A relevant cookery qualification and minimum 3 years professional cooking experience
- Experience in a similar hotel or restaurant environment
- Ability to cook all sections including functions, pastry, a la carte, buffet, hotline, saucier, entremets and larder
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Ability to cope under pressure while maintaining a positive proactive attitude
