Commis Chef (Full Time) | Mercure Gold Coast Resort
A 292-room hotel, spanning over 3.5 hectares of manicured gardens with significant food & beverage operations, two resort pools and extensive conference facilities, Mercure Gold Coast Resor t is an oasis located amongst expansive gardens on the Gold Coast.
This role will work predominantly breakfast shifts, servicing our buffet and a la carte breakfast plus lunch service.
Job Description
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
· Preparing and serving food for our breakfast buffet, ensuring freshness and quality are front of mind.
· Contributing to ideas to keep the offering varied and exciting for our guests.
· Prepare mis-en place as required.
· Ensure consistent great food production, in line with the high-quality standards set by the Resort.
· Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage and assist with ordering necessary food items.
· Keep all working areas clean and tidy and ensure all equipment is maintained.
Qualifications
YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS INCLUDE:
· Trade qualified (minimum Certificate III Commercial Cookery).
· Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment preferred; as to, an understanding of food safety requirements.
· A genuine passion for food and displaying very high standards of production and presentation.
· A working understanding of and the ability to maintain food safety standards.
· Excellent communication skills and a high standard of grooming and personal presentation.
· The capacity to multi-task and cope well under pressure.
· While predominantly focused on breakfast, you have the flexibility to work a 7-day roster, with an availability to work varied shifts from early mornings, late evenings, including weekends and Public Holidays as per our business demands.
· A reliable colleague who genuinely enjoys those early morning starts!
