Key tasks

We're on the hunt for a friendly and efficient Bar Attendant that's ready to offer service that exceeds the guests’ expectations. This role is ‘hands on’ and dynamic, working as part of a team to provide efficient 5 star service in a fast paced environment.

Some of the key duties of this role will be to:
- Perform the tasks of order taking and maximize sales opportunities through knowledge of product and suggestive selling.
- Ensure accuracy by repeating order(s) to the guests.
- Clearing and resetting tables as per policy
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the hotels standard drink recipes.
- Liaise with restaurant, café, function and conference areas and activities.
- Provide food and beverage service to customers, maximising every opportunity to increase sales per person.
- Observing liquor and other laws and regulations.
- Work cohesively as a team member.
- Ensure efficient, friendly and professional food and beverage service is provided to all guests.
- Provide for guests, patrons and ensure that their experience and environment meets their expectations.
- Familiarise yourself with VIP and regular guests to ensure their requests and needs are met.
- Ensure all mis-en-place is completed prior to guests arriving.
- Assist guests with any queries regarding local tourism information, and arrange tours and transportation as required.
- Perform any other duties within the employee’s range of competence as required by management.
- Perform all tasks to SO Brand standards

Essential and optional requirements

- Minimum 12 months experience in a similar role, preferably including 5 star Hotel experience.
- Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management, preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in all areas of Food and Beverage service, a la carte fine dining and/or bars.
- Barista skills, preferred.
- Projects professional image at all times through personal presentation/ interpersonal skills.
- Maintains awareness of industry trends in service, product and presentation.
- Desire and ability to train and develop staff.
- Understanding of luxury/lifestyle guest expectations and a desire to exceed these expectations.
- Initiates contacts and establishes rapport easily.
- Demonstrated Bar operations experience, mixology or bar service.
