We are looking for a Software engineer Cobol and Modernization, to join our growing team of technology experts at Accenture Belgium (Head Office in Brussels).

Our practice is open for both experienced legacy developers and starting developers who are interested to start a career in a practice which touches both the legacy mainframe world and the world of migration and modernization towards new and exciting technologies.

As a Mainframe Developer you will support the Mainframe environment using technologies like JCL, COBOL, DB2 and CICS as well as provide design documents, technical functional specifications and communicate effectively with key stakeholders.

As a Modernization expert you will help transform leading organizations and communities across all industries by translating system requirements into the design and development of migrated or new agile systems using innovating technologies.

Your Job

Depending on the program, you will:
· Participate in the entire Software Development Life Cycle; concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to production and support.
· Capture and document functional requirements via interviews or workshops.
· Collaborate with other developers in a team atmosphere to deliver a complete project from start to finish.
· Develop or modify large and complex solutions that require analysis and research, using Cobol, PL1, JCL and IDMS.
· Develop secondary skills in modern technologies (Blockchain, API, Docker,…) to propose and drive innovation at the client.
· Designs, prepare, executes and documents unit tests.
· Analyze, identify and troubleshoot issues and provide appropriate resolution.
· Support System Tests to correct identified defects.
· Perform tasks within planned durations to meet established deadlines.
· Provide documentation support.
· Keep up to date on latest industry trends and developer tools.
· Lead and coach a team.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Your Background
·  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
·  For experienced legacy developers: Working knowledge of COBOL/PL1, JCL programming, relational databases, TSO, ISPF.
·  Experience with testing and conversion tools are a plus;
·  Verbal and written communication skills in English, Dutch or French;
·  Team player with strong ability to adapt into a new environment.
·  Excellent research and problem-solving skills.
·  Experience with modern target solutions (API's, Java, Docker, Blockchain) are a plus.
