Fraud Analyst

Job description

Introduction
The Forensic Data Analyst contributes to the organisational goals by using expert SQL skills to extract usable data to identify anomalies, early fraud detection and areas for investigation. The primary role of the Forensic Data Analyst is therefore to protect the Company by creating and implementing exception reports to identify and monitor risks and irregularities for investigation in order to mitigate fraud risks.

This role reports to Fraud Operations Lead.

Specification

· Performs data mining and statistical analysis
· Designs system alerts for potentially fraudulent activity
· Extraction, verification and analysis of transactions from multiple systems as well as input from external sources to identify potential fraudulent trends and activities
· Develop fraud models
· Perform analysis on available internal and external data sources in order to refine current exception rule sets
· Investigating suspicious activities
· Develops and recommends fraud rules and strategies across technology platforms
· Investigate behavioural patterns that could assist in the identification of fraud
· Report on the results generated by proactive data analytics
· Develops and prepares management reports

Experience Preferred

Requirements

· Preferably 1-5 years of proven business analysis or related experience.
· Preferably in-depth knowledge of the retail and insurance industry
· Preferably knowledge of more than 1 business functional area

Qualifications :

Qualifications Preferred

·  Bachelor's degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Business Management, Statistics, Economics or similar.

· Bachelor degree requirement might be waived with proven specialised training/certifications at University level statistics, programming, analytics and business management (i.e. via online MOOCs).
