Creative Technology @ Fjord

Fjord's sweet spot in all of our client engagements is squarely in the design stage. We also offer strategy and business design capabilities to set the stage for and rationalize the business value of our design solutions. Technology and development are not core capabilities, and we prefer to partner with client technology organizations or third party developers to implement what we design.

Given this set up, the role of Creative Technologist is a critical function that helps to bring life to our design work, as quickly and tangibly as possible, with an early understanding on feasibility and technical implications. Design prototyping is not a new function in our sector, however few companies have successfully and consistently integrated this role into the standard design offering. Fjord is committed to doing so, and to illustrating the enormous value of prototyping as an integral and regular step in the process of conceptualizing, refining and finalizing a designed service or product. The Creative Technologist is a member of a larger team that includes interaction and visual designers, program mangers, and service and business designers. This position is located in Stockholm and may require travel.

We expect the successful Creative Technologist Candidates to have 3-5 years of development experience working with an integrated team of designers to deliver tangible solutions to clients. The candidate must thrive working in a fast paced, collaborative, team environment.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Required Background and Skills:

·  An expert level of development expertise in:

o HTML

o JavaScript

o CSS

o Front-end frameworks and single page apps

·  Decent experience with app development for:

o iOS

o Android

·  Additional experience in:

o Hardware interfaces (Arduino, Tessel, etc)

o Backend languages (Java, Python, etc)

o Database architecture

o Web services and APIs (Facebook, Twitter, etc)

o Programming motion and animation

·  BA or BS at minimum in Software Engineering, Technology or a related field or similar work experience.
·  Excellent communication skills and history of working with/within design teams.
·  Strong team orientation and collaborative by nature.
·  Efficient and flexible in approach.
·  Be a storyteller: A critical element of all our roles is to deliver insights about people and behaviour, verbally and visually, in a way that generates empathy, emotion, and engagement from the client and design team.
·  A strategic perspective on the variety of work that we do. Many of our projects involve strategic thinking based upon the insights gathered from the field. Thus, business, brand, and/or strategic experience are desirable.
·  A natural skill to engage with people at a deep level. Whether observing or interviewing customers, or working with fellow team members and clients, the Creative Technologist should be passionate about representing the human perspective in design and should have skills in bringing this passion to life for the team.
·  A self-starter who identifies opportunities and potential problems – addressing them effectively and efficiently.
