Job Summary:
The Compliance & Ethics Counsel Associate Manager, Data Privacy is a full-time associate manager role to be filled by a qualified lawyer with at least 3-5 years' relevant experience in the data privacy (DP) field. The role is part of the Data Privacy team in Legal and its Clients & Contracting work. The role reports to the Compliance & Ethics Counsel Senior Manager. Individuals with relevant data privacy experience at a global company in the technology, IT and security sector are preferred. CIPP professional certification(s) or equivalents are preferred.
Core responsibilities
The role will focus on providing subject matter expertise and support to global business and corporate functions in respect of data privacy, data security, and privacy by design. It will particularly collaborate and provide privacy legal guidance to various legal, security, and business teams regarding Accenture solutions, including addressing changes in the law that impact Accenture's business.
The scope of work encompasses broad support to other parts of the Legal function, Client Data Protection program and business stakeholders on transactional data privacy matters in client contracts, and data privacy reviews of the company's services and offerings. Working closely with the Accenture's Security consulting practice and regulatory counsel, the role will also cover data privacy aspects of new and existing internal projects and/or client-facing businesses. This role will be responsible for developing and delivering relevant data privacy training and awareness materials, as well as tools, templates, resources and guidance materials.
Specified Duties Include:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for transactional data privacy support requests, supporting CORE, Contracting, and Contract Management professionals in their work on client and client-related supplier contracts.
• Become an expert on data privacy issues in support of the Legal Offerings team and engage business teams in the design, development, sales and delivery of services and offerings.
• Develop tools and processes that enable the integration of data privacy and data security into the design of offerings to enable roll out of offerings in countries where the company operates.
• Work with the global DP team on global DP initiatives and projects, and support the development or improvement of tools and processes for the review of new internal projects and offerings and embed privacy by design methodology into the business.
• Support the development and implementation of the global data privacy program, including local design and implementation of the global program.
• Transfer knowledge in Accenture's contracting positions to empower CORE, Contracting, and Contract Management professionals to handle transactional data privacy matters and over time, to become increasingly self-reliant.
• Together with the Contracting professionals and the Client Data Protection leads, refine Accenture's contracting positions on data privacy and data security issues to ensure our contract terms are both competitive and aligned with our client data protection strategy, operational activities and our data security practices in delivery locations.
• Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments related to data privacy, including public policy, regional data privacy regulation and standards that potentially impact Accenture's ability to comply with local DP requirements.
• Develop and deliver relevant global data privacy training and awareness presentations and market relevant intelligence with/to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain a professional network with data privacy lawyers at client and peer companies and law firms.
• Actively foster and promote a DP culture within the organization
• Be able to speak knowledgably on DP to client facing and internal teams and direct their queries appropriately and be able to speak at external conferences and events
• Keep up to date with DP topics such as regulatory guidance and enforcement action, activities of relevant industry and standards associations etc.
• Provide secondary support for Health & Public Services and Life Sciences offerings, including privacy by design and privacy legal guidance and conducting privacy reviews
• Provide data privacy guidance as needed for security incidents
Desired profile
Qualifications :
Basic Qualifications
• University degree in law• Advanced English level
• Min 3-5 years' experience in global data privacy law and practice in a global company, preferably in technology and IT sector or security/information security
• CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, CISSP and/or CISM preferred or willingness to obtain within a short period
• Admitted to practice law
• Knowledge of information and communication technologies or a technology degree or qualification.
Professional Experience and Skills:
• Demonstrated command of data privacy and related laws and regulations; extensive experience with data privacy legal compliance or counselling;
• Experience or knowledge in data protection laws related to security, protection of sensitive data
• Experience in preparing and delivering trainings
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across various levels
• Must have the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and work effectively remotely and within a global team;
• Strong contracting, drafting and demonstrated negotiation skills;
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management and staff;
• Confidence and credibility in dealing with internal management, senior personnel at client and peer companies, outside counsel, data privacy regulators, and industry bodies;
• Ability to consistently apply good judgment;
• Builds and maintains a network of good working relationships both internally and externally;
• Adapts nimbly to changing needs within the business.
