Job description



The job of an Big Data Technical Architect includes responsibility for the installation, configuration, upgrading, administration, monitoring, maintenance, tuning, and security of Hadoop clusters, NoSQL stores, cloud-based data services, and/or traditional RDBMS database as part of both on-prem and cloud architectures. More specifically, the role includes the development and design of Big Data strategies, system monitoring and improving performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements. They may also plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard databases/clusters.

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications:
·  Strong interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
·  Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and debugging skills
Minimum 3 years of experience with Big Data or Cloud PaaS Data technologies
·  including areas such as:
·  Cloudera (CDH) Hadoop (e.g. HDFS, Spark, Impala, HBase, Sentry) architecture
·  Hortonworks (HDP) Hadoop (e.g. HDFS, Hive, Ranger, Nifi) architecture
·  PaaS (or data on IaaS) cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle)
·  Fast data and CDC (e.g. Kafka, Spark Streaming, Oracle GoldenGate, Attunity)
·  Setup and configuration, Linux system administration, scripting
·  Migration and consolidation across platforms
·  High availability and DR solutioning
·  Diagnosability, manageability, and operations
·  Core DB/Hadoop administration skills including areas such as:
·  Database architecture design and SQL coding/tuning on RDBMS
(e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and/or Hadoop (e.g. Hive, Impala)
·  Database/Hadoop Installation, configuration and patching
·  Database performance tuning, data warehousing, Big Data and data lakes
·  Data replication, database security, encryption, compression and data masking/redaction
·  Backup and recovery
·  4+ years of industry experience as a technical architect and implementation specialist with a strong understanding of infrastructure and data services
