Logistics First Line Manager
Magor
Near Newport South Wales
The Site:
Our Magor brewery is ‘the home of Stella Artois’, and is located in South Wales which is less than 5 minutes’ drive from junction 23A of the M4. In a single day, Magor brewery can produce 2 million bottles, 1.8 million cans and 13 thousand kegs and our annual production capacity is circa 4.7 million hectolitres; this is the equivalent of about 792 million pints.
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, and working a flexible shift pattern, you will be responsible for managing shift teams within their specific area. In addition to the requirements below, you will demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills as well as being highly results focused with a strong attention to detail.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Balance the constant search for new improved ways of working, together with the sustained implementation of our world class manufacturing techniques
· Adopt a structured target setting and performance management process in order to achieve the department KPI's
· Manage your team including the promotion of engagement initiatives within the department, lead shift handover meetings, manage work schedules, identify training needs, maintain union relationships, monitor and manage individual performance, bi-annual one-on-one sessions and innovation programs
· Ensure full flexibility within the teams to meet existing and future business needs
· Ensure effective communication and co-ordination across the department
· Support the Site Better World KPI’s
· Manage the implementation of new and existing operating practices across the department
· Control costs and the budget in the department
· Development a strong and cohesive team
· Ensure effective management of significant change issues and challenging industrial relations issues
· Contribute excellent knowledge of manufacturing principles, tools and techniques and project management principles
· Ensure successful delivery of process improvement initiatives
· Act as a role model for our ten principles and ensure that the culture within the department is aligned to them.
The Individual
· Minimum A level education or equivalent
· A degree or further education qualification in a related discipline would be advantageous
· Experience in managing and developing teams to meet deadlines and achieve targets and KPI’s
· Experience in managing / controlling budgets
· Experience in managing change issues
· Good knowledge of manufacturing principles, tools and techniques
· Committed to a high performance environment
· Support a “Learning Organisation” environment
· Ability to analyse numerical information
This will be a challenging role where the ability to act and to drive the operation forward will be key. Proven Process Improvement and Root Cause Analysis should be quantifiable through live examples.
