Data Support Engineer - Internship, Python, Linux, Data Science, Machine learning

Opportunity for a Graduate to engage in a 2 to 3 month internship to work with this leading data science team assisting them with data preparation by scripting in Python and Shell Scripts. This will provide the Graduate who ideally has some knowledge of machine learning algorithms the opportunity to see how they are applied within a Data Science team solving complex problems. The Data Support Engineer will play an integral role in establishing the ground work to ensure the data is optimised to ensure the most effective performance of the algorithms.

This opportunity is to work within a pharma research company applying powerful predictive analytical capabilities to reduce the friction inhibiting innovation and create a more efficient development process. As an Intern you will contribute in creating a precision system that intelligently augments human intuition with the ability to draw correlations amongst petabyte-sized disparate knowledge datasets using machine learning and predictive relevancy algorithms.

Job Overview

Data Support Engineer Intern required for a 2-3 month project. This work will be assisting our Data Science team with data set preparation.
The Intern will be working alongside a very talented team of Data Scientists and will learn about the latest scientific techniques in knowledge extraction, and gain exposure to the latest trends in Data Science.
This will be a paid internship, and you will be working within this early-stage company, which will provide you with a great opportunity to contribute to this innovative start-up project with strong financial backing and global ambitions.
Requirements
*Good first degree (1st or 2.1) in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, from a top class university. Masters will be an advantage
*Programming skills in Python, shell scripting
*Good experience of Linux systems
*Command line tools
*Ability to write clean code
*Computer literacy required. Must be able to navigate the internet capably, key in data to online applications, download files, and run database queries
*High attention to detail
*Clear communicator
*Any knowledge or familiarity of Machine Learning Algorithms will be of benefit
*An eagerness to learn about scientific techniques
