Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Value Stream Manager will be responsible for developing and executing manufacturing strategies and operational plans that drive continuous improvement for safety, quality, service, and cost for the mining and manufacturing of roofing granules.  This person will be a member of the Plant Leadership Team and will work closely with each member of the leadership team to help the plant continuously improve.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·  Drive world class safety culture into daily operations
·  Leadership and coordination of site manufacturing operations in support of all EHS, Quality, Service, Inventory and Cost objectives.  Track key metrics in the manufacturing process and communicate to employees and management
·  Communicate with internal and external business partners
·  Manage, lead and develop the manufacturing operations. Clearly communicate to all employees within the manufacturing operations the expectations and results of the facility
·  Work with plant management to set short and long term strategic plans as well as operating plans for departments
·  Establish and maintain financial targets
·  Determine required exempt, direct and indirect employee staffing levels; initiate and approve requisitions; interview, select candidates for employment; develop or direct development of personnel, personnel standards and objectives; direct, initiate, review and approve employee appraisals, discipline, transfers, promotions and other personnel actions
·  Manage production supervisors, process engineers and team members with clearly defined roles, performance objectives, motivation, and training.  Resolve issues and conflicts related to direct reports
·  Develop or direct development and approve experiments, standard operating, quality and administrative procedures and policies for manufacturing and related operations. Oversee the implementation and administration of all company policies
·  Champion and develop a culture of employee engagement through implementation of principle based leadership systems
·  Lead cross functional teams and programs to drive continuous improvement
·  Implement Lean principles into existing manufacturing process
·  Implement additional production tools in support of manufacturing excellence
·  Direct and facilitate Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement teams to improve customer satisfaction and reduce total costs

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
·  Minimum five (5) years of experience in a private, public, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: Manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, product engineering, process development, product development, EHS, and/or Quality
·  Minimum two (2) years of combined experience in a leadership and/or supervisory role

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an engineering discipline (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial)
·  Experience leading high performing cross functional teams
·  Demonstrated ability to lead attainment of aggressive objectives for Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S), Quality, Service, and Financial performance
·  Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified with experience leading and implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodology for sustained continuous improvement
·  Strong leadership behaviors
·  Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
