Job Summary :
The person hired for the position of Value Stream Manager will be responsible for developing and executing manufacturing strategies and operational plans that drive continuous improvement for safety, quality, service, and cost in the Indianapolis 3M facility. As such, this person will be a member of the Plant Operating Committee and will collaborate with each member of the plant leadership team to help the plant continuously improve. This person will have extended value stream responsibilities and support of the businesses serviced by the Hearing Protection Production processes in the Indianapolis 3M plant.
This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Work with plant management and portfolio/business management to set short and long term strategic plans as well as operating plans for departments
· Focus on the product extended Value Streams to drive improvement for 3M
· Builds strong operational discipline coordinated with Operations Management to ensure that production is of high quality and strives to exceed customer expectations
· Develop and maintain annual capital and operating budgets; identify, develop budget for, prioritize and direct justification and implementation of capital projects; monitor progress, initiate corrective action as required
· Direct and facilitate Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement teams both within and outside of the operations organization to improve customer satisfaction and reduce total costs
· Leads engineering and business teams to create high value, cost effective hearing protection and provide superior customer service
· Coordinates and leads Customer Strategy Deployment and manages the extended value stream for the products and businesses supported from the areas of responsibility
Basic Qualifications:
· Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
· Minimum five (5) years of combined experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing and supply chain operations, capital projects, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), and/or Quality in a public, private, government or military environment
· Minimum three (3) years of supervision experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
· Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
· Experience leading and implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodology for sustained continuous improvement
· Demonstrated ability to lead attainment of aggressive objectives for EHS, Quality, Service, and Financial Performance
· Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
· Progressive thought process and ability to articulate cultural changing strategies to diverse and plant management level leaders
· Supervisory/Managementexperience in manufacturing setting
· Demonstrated success in leading discussions with customers (internal and external to 3M)
· Strong team skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional matrix organization
· Strong communication skills and ability to interact on a broad basis (external/internal customers, employees and upper management)
· Influence that can drive others to make/accept change
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
