Job Summary:
The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor will oversee all operations of the maintenance team. They will drive long term improvements providing guidance on corrective maintenance action plans and executing direct resource management for immediate short-term production needs, in the support of overall equipment uptime. Own and be accountable for metrics directly pertaining to the optimized operation of production manufacturing equipment. Responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, compliance, quality, technical skill development, and equipment reliability.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Ensuring a safe working environment through modeling safe behaviors, leading audits/inspections, correcting unsafe behaviors, conducting safety meetings, and utilizing proper work methods, procedures and equipment. Act on behalf of the site as the Contractor Safety Coordinator.
· Supporting safety programs such as Management Of Change, lockout/tagout, Machine Guarding, Ventilation, and Process Hazard Management.
· Contributing to the plant support of business expectations including capital planning, and capital execution. Will work with manufacturing team and resident engineers to ensure success.
· Providing direct supervision to hourly maintenance mechanics and supporting team.
· Handling shift administrative activities such as time/absence reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime.
· Ensure appropriate use of SAP Maintenance and other SAP modules, and maintenance databases to contribute to efficiency of operations, accuracy of procedures and machine availability.
· Planning daily work schedules, determine priorities, allocate work assignments, and regulate production processes to meet specific daily maintenance requirements and react to time critical requirements.
· Responsible for evaluation of equipment and maintenance history to determine and establish appropriate preventive maintenance requirements, and/or to recommend predictive maintenance programs for optimizing effectiveness of maintenance procedures and maximizing equipment reliability. Includes defining appropriate plans and critical spares based on vendor definition and history or actual performance.
· Implements Total Productive Maintenance program plantwide.
· Analyzing spare part stock to support minimization of inventory and accuracy. Orders or reviews inventory, system generated and non-routine purchase requests for appropriateness, assessing need for stock, reorder points, risk and cost.
· Ownership and accountability for asset management including inventory, tagging, and verification process.
· Evaluating employees’ performance, provide feedback, identify training and growth opportunities for mechanics to improve team skills and operating level.
· Driving continuous improvement in plant engineering work quality, safety, team skills and problem-solving ability, customer satisfaction, on-time performance, and effective control of spending.
· Responsible for leading problem solving for all major downtime events, providing detailed downtime root cause analysis. Works with vendors, maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering teams for input on corrective action measures.
· Championing lean manufacturing efforts and projects, driving 3M sustainability programs and initiatives.
· Reports to Plant Manager and is part of the Plant Leadership Team.
Basic Qualifications:
· High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
· Minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in plant engineering and/or maintenance in a private, public, government or military environment
· Minimum of two (2) years of combined supervisory and/or leadership experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university
· Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in a plant engineering environment
· Experience working with hazardous materials
· Experience leading cross functional teams
· Self-directed and detail oriented
· Ability to create, lead and work in a team atmosphere
· Ability to drive and influence positive change
· Experience/expertise in electrical, control (PLC, Ladder Logic), hydraulic and/or mechanical systems a plus
