Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineer will primarily be responsible for actively supporting the safety improvement, driving improvements in quality, service, and cost, developing and leading programs to improve product and process/quality understanding, and working in cross functional teams to ensure continuous quality improvement. The engineer will support the Multi-Layer Optical Film (MOF) products produced for FMRD Film in Decatur, AL.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·  Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (productivity) in the Decatur Multi-Layer Optical Film (MOF) areas
·  Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply systematic problem-solving skills
·  Development and implementation of cross-functional projects, plans, and programs in support of business and strategic plans new process start-ups, new process technology integration, aggressive cost reduction, and supply chain improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools
·  Assist local and global manufacturing teams on rapid resolution of customer complaints; including timely response, communication and implementation of corrective actions
·  Lead and support quality improvement projects
·  Develop process standards and other documentation supporting the operation
·  Assist in training manufacturing personnel on safe and productive equipment use
·  Use Lean, Six Sigma and Value Stream Improvement tools to drive improvements
·  Lead efforts on scale-up of new products and work on cross-functional teams
·  Define, scope and assist Engineering with implementation of capital projects
·  Drive process development, recommend new equipment and modification to support cost improvements and new product introductions
·  Coordination of training on new systems or processes
·  Work with internal and external resources as needed to accomplish objectives
·  As necessary, ability to cover production runs in a 24/7 manufacturing environment

Basic Qualifications:

·  Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
·  Minimum three (3) years of combined experience in a process, quality, product and/or manufacturing engineering role and/or experience with product/process development in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline
·  Experience in batch extrusion, film making, coating, and/or winding
·  Strong organization, communication, project management, and coaching skills
·  Six Sigma or Quality Improvement training/certification
·  Experience working on a cross functional team
·  Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
·  Microsoft Office proficient

Location: Decatur, AL

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international

Relocation: Is authorized
