An internship is a temporary position within 3M. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 10-12 week assignment. This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year. 3M provides eligible interns with temporary housing and covers a portion of housing costs, as well as round-trip travel reimbursement in accordance with current policy.

Job Summary:
IT Intern assignment areas include, but are not limited to:
· IT Applications Center of Excellence (ACE). This team encompasses global applications and services that help enable business growth throughout 3M. We are organized by Portfolios (Demand, Support, Supply and R&D), Services (ED&I, PVMO and GSC) and Areas (EMEA, APAC, LATM and North America). We focus on application optimization including value realization, introduction of new IT solutions, digitization, and driving technology innovations to support 3M product development and commercialization.
· Infrastructure Services. The infrastructure group encompasses areas that select, implement and support hardware, system software, data, workstation and communications platforms needed across business solutions worldwide. Positions are primarily Technical Analysts, and we are looking for candidates interested in evaluating and deploying technologies, and scripting the automation of all infrastructure services, both on-premise and in the cloud.
· Quality Assurance. This group drives continuous improvement and standardization to ensure releases to 3M’s global ERP are high quality, compliant, and low risk. Positions include test cycle management and automation, system performance and data volume management, ERP access management, deployment and release management (cutover plan build and execution), and data archiving.
· Information Security, Risk and Compliance. This global organization is committed to ensuring protection of 3M and our customers. It is our objective to safeguard our intellectual property that is essential for managing our business, maintaining competitive advantage, and complying with internal policies, standards and legal requirements. This organization includes the following teams: Data Loss Prevention and Endpoint Security, Compliance, Assessments, Architecture, Incident and Investigations, Identity & Access Management, Awareness and Security Technology Management.
· Data Intelligence Enablement (formerly known as Reporting and Analytics). This team enables Data Science, Analytics and Reporting across the Enterprise by acquiring, integrating, governing, securing, visualizing and making data available for decision support and enterprise operations. Technologies in this portfolio include Big Data platforms such as Teradata, SAP HANA, Azure Data Lake, Data Integration Technologies such as Informatica, SAP BODS, Azure Data Factory, Data Visualization Technologies such as WebI, QlikView, Lumira, PowerBI, etc. and Advanced Analytics Technologies such as R, Python, Azure Databricks, etc. This team works with Polaris process teams, functional team such as BSO, Finance, Corporate Research Labs, Regions and countries and Business Groups to help 3M monetize data.
· North American Manufacturing. This is a regional IT team that supports the processes and applications within 3M ‘s manufacturing sites across the United States and Canada. Positions are primarily business analysts looking for exposure to the business in a manufacturing setting, supporting sites virtually, and working on a cross-functional team.
· Master Data Management. This area is focused on defining and managing the critical data elements of an organization. This includes data analysis, cleansing, and global data quality/consistency and standardization in preparation for data flow into our global ERP system.
· Lean Agile, Automation & DevOps Enablement . This organization’s mission is to help teams excel through Agility. This includes through hands-on Lean Agile coaching, training, and guidance using benchmarked practices from industry peers. In addition, this group defines and builds technology pipelines that enable more rapid and reliable delivery of our IT software solutions to our customers using automation, artificial intelligence, and open-source tools.
Basic Qualifications:
· Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree, or higher, from an accredited university
Preferred Qualifications:
· Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
· Previous internship experience
· Previous experience working in Information Technology
· Excellent communication skills
