3M is seeking an Environmental Engineer for the Commercial Solutions Division (CSD) Plant located in Nevada, MO.
Job Summary :
The person hired for the position of Environmental Engineer will have the opportunity to work with an experienced team of EHS professionals in a manufacturing plant setting. This position will assist in the coordination and completion of site EHS compliance objectives, while using engineering/scientific concepts, procedures, standards, regulatory and industry awareness to identify and resolve EHS issues.
3M Nevada is the manufacturing center of excellence among the seven worldwide Commercial Graphic plant sites producing high quality graphic products, tapes, and liners for the global graphic and signage markets. In addition, 3M Nevada produces specialty products for sixteen other 3M businesses, and is one of the five 3M Superhubs in North America - a preferred multi-divisional manufacturing site.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Lead the plant’s efforts in environmental compliance programs such as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Spill Prevention Conservation and Control (SPCC), Hazwaste, storm water, and air permitting.
· Complete and submit required environmental reporting
· Lead and assist with incident investigations that have or have potential environmental impacts
· Collaborate with corporate, state, and local environmental contacts and agencies.
· In addition, the position may have responsibilities in Landfill closure process and may include coordination of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 program
· Provide technical support for successful completion of plant Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management Plan.
· Develop and present training packages
· Lead Portions of EHS self-assessments and/or Audits
· Assist facility in Global Safety and Health Plan (GSHP)and Globe Environmental Management Systems (GEMSA)
· Provide EHS oversight, design review, and testing of efficacy of exposure control measures including ventilations, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment
Basic Qualifications:
· Possess a Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
· Minimum two (2) years of Health, Safety and/or Environmental experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline from an accredited institution
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with able to work closely with Plant Management, and Production employees
· Detail oriented with strong prioritization and organization skills
· Self-directed able to work independently
· Professional certification or willingness to obtain [e.g. Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP)-Institute of Professional Environmental Practice, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)-Institute of Hazardous Materials Management]
· Microsoft Office proficient
Location: Nevada, MO
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic travel
