Global Finance

Global Finance aims to provide HSBC with a professional, effective and responsive finance service that operates at optimal cost and employs a common and transparent global model.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Business Risk & Control Manager.


Principal responsibilities

The role supports the Head of MYH Finance Strategy and Execution in the following areas:

1) Local SME for all Finance Control matters.  
i) This includes working with stakeholders to ensure compliance to risk frameworks, working with Group and Regional Finance Controls to improve, streamline and strengthen internal controls in a changing environment.
ii) Continuously educate local stakeholders to appreciate and embrace the compliance culture.

2) Support MYH CFO and the Finance Leadership team in the capacity of Controls Office for identification of issues, enhancement of internal controls,  logging and monitoring of issues, and delivery of remediations with quality and on time.

3) Support MYH Finance assurance reviews and/or internal audits.

4) Support in outsourcing matters.

5) Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure delivery of intended outcomes, with accuracy and in a timely manner.

Impact on the Business 

·  The incumbent will be expected to ensure that the Finance Management owns its risk and controls as the first line of defence to Operational Risk Accounting and Tax; 
·  Ensure that all key risks within their activities and operations are identified, mitigated and monitored by an appropriate control environment that is commensurate with risk appetite. 
·  Provide effective guidance on governance and reporting of key risks and controls within Finance. 
·  Collaborate with Finance stakeholders to ensure effective risk assessments and management of operational risks in Finance. Ensure Group’s Operational Risk Management Framework is adhered to. 
·  Proactively challenge the effectiveness of Finance controls and collaborate with Finance stakeholders to strengthen internal controls. 
·  Be well versed with the internal controls framework and its implementation across the region, to ensure similar implementation with appropriate guidance at local level.
·  Perform annual Business Risk and Control Management (“BRCM”) testing plan and monitor progress against plan, execute control monitoring, report results, develop action plans and oversee remediation for all controls assessed and challenge procedures covering areas under review. 
·  Maintain the accuracy of relevant BRCM related databases including technical group updates and user administration.
·  Coordinate Risk and Control Assessment (“RCA”) including validate scope, review material risks, risk prioritization, validate and assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls to mitigate operational risk.
·  Support MYH Finance team in outsourcing matters, including performing remediations to ensure compliance to outsourcing governance. 
·  Collaborate with MYH SOX Manager on control matters (including presentation in Finance Risk and Control Management Forum, and preparation of forum and board papers) and backup the MYH SOX Manager in his/her absence.

Requirements

·  A Degree or Master Degree is preferred and with two to five years of related knowledge.
·  Prior audit, controls and/or SOX experience is preferred.   
·  Possess strong analytical & structured thinking.
·  Capable of communicating & interacting well at all levels.
·  Able to drive change & challenge the status quo.
·  Have a good negotiation and influencing skills.
