Nutricia Research Centre for Specialized Nutrition, located in the Utrecht Science Park in the Netherlands is a state-of-the-art Life Science innovation center for the development of new product concepts for Specialized Nutrition. We create formulas that provide clinically substantiated health benefits to vulnerable consumers – infants, toddlers, elderly and patients. 

 

For Specialized Nutrition R&I (SN R&I) division we are looking for a Design & Development Manager to join the Greater China Innovation team, focusing on Infant milks & Foods for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) in powder format. 

 

About the Job

We are looking for a Product Design and Development Manager (PDDM) who is motivated to translate science and technology into innovative products and bring them to the Chinese market. You will be working in cross-functional project teams, very closely with China CBU and factories in Europe. You will work in close collaboration with the PD teams located in Shanghai and Wuxi, project leaders located in Shanghai and EU, Operations, Quality global and located in China, Regulatory affairs, Marketing, Medical & Science, User Experience, Specifications Management team, Process technology, Pilot plant team and EU supply points.

Next to this, you will:

·  Support technical execution of innovation projects, dossier preparation and feedback for China registration
·  Ensure technical documents are up to high standards and available in a timely manner
·  Follow innovation process and governance and lead technical risk assessment
·  Play a key role in strengthening team expertise and spirit, being a sustainable team member

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

·  Key partner to CBU’s and collaborate closely with R&I, regulatory, marketing, operations, factories and quality to deliver Greater China Innovation pipeline and product registration
·  Design product which will deliver sustainable value in, competitiveness and superior experience on the market
·  Develop innovative nutritional infant formulas & FSMP products that comply with China legislation, product brief, internal nutritional guidelines and internal quality guidelines, in an economical way
·  Be the technical lead within the technical stages of formulation design and development up to commercialization of a new product innovation/renovation
·  Ensure formulations follow robust design principles, risk mitigations are in place, and all documentation is in line with InnoPro Governance process.
·  Work closely together with stakeholders in Supply Points, Pilot Plants and Advanced teams on trials and alignments on the final results
·  Implement compliant and high-quality products at Danone European factories, support registration and commercial activities first time right
·  Able to anticipate risks and challenges and to proactively propose solutions
·  Build and own expertise on product category: Technical, Quality in Design, Consumer Experience, Competitive landscape
·  Able to look critically at the current product development process & challenge the status quo and capturing knowledge

About you

To be able to achieve the above and be successful in this role we believe you need to have:

·  Strong expertise as a food developer/ environment or R&D environment, preferably in the field of infant formula powder and/or Medical Nutrition, dairy processing and spray drying
·  Mininum 2-year experience in an international environment
·  Master’s degree or higher in Food technology or similar working/thinking level obtained via experience
·  Scientific Mindset (to understand SN)
·  Proficiency using tools for formulation design, documentation, systems and processes are key to the compliance and quality aspect to the role
·  Strong stakeholder management skills, to communicate effectively & efficiently with various functions and levels (operator to director) within R&I, CBU, Operations & QFS
·  Team player and collaborative mindset with an autonomous working attitude
·  Pro-active in work and communication, open-minded, analytical, curious and hands-on approach
·  Critical thinking and problem solving
·  Quick to analyse complex problems and propose pragmatic solutions with concrete action plans
·  You have change agility, a business acumen mindset, result driven (based on technical expertise) and able to work autonomous;
·  Can deal with changing priorities, manage uncertainty and deal with complexity in a dynamic organization
·  Is fluent in English, both verbal and written
