Based at our Willesden Depot - London, we are currently looking to recruit an experienced Field Maintenance Engineer (m/f). Working as part of the Field Maintenance Engineering Team at Willesden providing fleet engineering support to the LOTRAIN AVENTRA 710 fleet.

YOUR ROLE:

This position reports into the Field Maintenance Engineering (FME) Manager and is a member of the FME team providing fleet engineering support

The Field Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that trains are safe to operate in compliance with the Operators’ Safety Cases, industry standards and applicable legislation. Will be required to identify and implement safe, cost effective, containments and countermeasures to identified product safety and reliability issues; The Field Maintenance Engineer will also be expected to undertake work streams to improve the product and deliver customer Variation Orders to improve the margin of the contract. Will support day to day depot operations by resolving Production issues and fitness to run decisions. Has accountability for leading identified projects and interfacing with all related business units in BT and customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Within the defined group of systems, lead all aspects of train safety from accurate reporting of safety issues to on time implementation of counter-measures. Interfacing with the regional product safety team.

• Use Bombardier project management key processes to plan and implement changes (change management, planning, risks and opportunities management)

• Support the depot to resolve fleet technical issues and arbitrate fitness to run decisions.

• Work closely with the production teams in optimising maintenance execution.

• Support the platform reliability engineer to implement containments and counter-measures on identified key reliability failure modes and support fleet reliability management projects.

• Lead improvement projects to reduce train maintenance and operation cost, this ranging from maintenance optimisation through to supplier equipment sourcing.

• Implement customer variation orders, train presentation / customer ambience improvements

• Represent Field Maintenance Engineering at operational reviews.

• From time to time, will be required to undertake out of hours on-call duties

Desired profile

Qualifications

• Ideally educated to degree level/HNC/HND in an engineering related subject; Chartered or in process to be chartered
• Relevant engineering experience in similar industries (i.e.: public transportation) with some management responsibilities
• Strong engineering knowledge of traction and rolling stock systems, and traction and rolling stock maintenance policies and practices.
• Previous customer service environment experience
• Computer skills required : Computer literate (MS Windows, Maximo, SAP)
• Good organizational and project management skills
• Problem solving techniques
• Autonomous in leading cross functional projects and flexible to changing needs of the depot
