Mobility Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in support of the creation of technical solutions for a variety of armoured vehicles? We currently have a vacancy for a Mobility Engineer at our site in Telford

As a Mobility Engineer, you will be responsible for formulating design solutions for equipment used in a range of in-service armoured platforms for UK based and international customers.

This role will provide you with opportunities throughout the wider BAE Systems business.

Your main responsibilities as a Mobility Engineer will involve:

Overseeing and undertaking the development of the propulsion and driveline system integration at the system and sub-system levels

Managing requirements from the customer and the production of technical specifications,

Managing all technical issues by liaising directly with customers and suppliers and ensuring a resolution is reached

Overseeing and taking a hands on approach with the modelling and simulation of propulsion and driveline systems

Taking responsibility for the system design and integration into various vehicle platforms

Managing the acceptance and verification testing of systems

Considering safety, risk, reliability and maintainability associated with the technical solution, in conjunction with subject matter experts

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

A thorough understanding of automotive powertrain systems and their development including:

· Mechanical automotive systems and appropriate defence standards for military vehicles
· Simulation and modelling of automotive powertrain systems and their performance
· Specification and design of mechanical sub-systems,
· Mechanical automotive sub-systems duty cycles

Experience involved in the design, integration and testing of powertrain engineering projects

Experience in the use of Microsoft based products

Desirable


Experience in stress analysis using tools such as ANSYS

Experience in stress and kinematic calculations

Experience on wheeled and tracked platform mobility systems, especially legacy wheeled platforms

Experience with instrumentation and test control systems

You must have strong written and verbal communication skills. You must be competent in the use and development of systems engineering methods and tools. It is also important for you to have the ability to interact at all levels with core engineering specialists

Location: Telford

Salary: £31,625+ Commensurate on experience
