Job description

Key tasks

As part of the Laser Accounts Centre Team, you will be expected to fulfil your role as one of a team of accounting personnel looking after the accounts for 3 hotels in the group. In summary, the primary responsibilities will be to:

• Maintain accurate banking reconciliations through daily checks, following up discrepancies and ensuring accurate recording of receipts and payments.
• Involvement in and Control the Purchase Ledger function relating to Hotels directly responsible for ensuring the recording of invoices is accurate, approve payments, and reconcile supplier statements.
• Control Payroll related journals for accuracy and record bonus provisions.
• Produce an accurate set of month-end accounts controlling accruals, provisions, and prepayments. Balance stock accounts, deposits & guest ledger totals. Ensure sales figures are accurately recorded through the interface with the hotels and debtors ledger figure balances with the aged report from the hotel. Maintain an accurate and clear general ledger.
• Adhere to all aspects of Government Legislation relating to accounting, reconciling the VAT liability, and recording staff benefits.
• To periodically check the Auto Controls are carried out and policies adhered to for all finance related procedures. This will be done from the office as well as during visits to the hotel.
• Establish appropriate communication with Finance Administrators and General Managers to support the hotel operation in all aspects of finance.
• Assist with financial analysis and follow-up with the hotel in analyzing gaps between the budget and actual figures.
• Will be expected to assist with the accounting for a Hotel not normally under own direct responsibility if and when necessary. Additional Hotels may be added subject to reasonable grounds and with consultation.

Essential and optional requirements

• Have a strong financial / accounting background preferably gained in a hospitality company

• Experience in data processing with knowledge of Microsoft spreadsheets

• Strong Analytical skills

• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team

• Strong Communication and Interpersonal relationships skills
