• Detection of antibodies through using antibody test kits to help diagnose malaria and glandular fever
• Use of software such as Citrix, Remisol and Winpath
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of automated machinery (Blood gas devices, ESR, blood film staining, transfusion grouping, full blood count machinery).
• Training new members of staff in machine usage, troubleshooting and routine tasks
• Explaining blood results to patients and collecting blood from patients for analysis in clinic
• Processing of blood sample and blood products in transfusion ready for antenatal patients or patients in theatre
• Knowledge of a number of tests performed in haematology, biochemistry and transfusion and why they are necessary along with interpreting results
