Job description



User experience is a key area in the innovation of connected product solutions development at Safran Cabin. The User Experience designer leads how Safran Cabin will set the new standard in how passengers, crew and other stakeholders will experience the connected cabin in the future and will work on the stepping stones of our connected products and services that will bring us there. The focus is on commercial aircraft interiors and you are part of the UX Design & Innovation team.

The purpose of the User Experience designer is to design state of the art (digital) interactions with Mobile App's, GUI's in the cabin and other systems translating our future innovations in desirable solutions for passengers, crew and other stakeholders. User centricity, simplicity, intuitively, culture sensitivity and context (aviation) awareness are quality indicators you have proven to meet in your previous jobs.

In this role you show a vision in how we interact with a connected environment beyond the traditional screens and dashboards and build with our IoT Technology and UX teams a path to a future connected cabin experience. A path that is agile and hands on while you also define the state of the art for our first connected products and services.

You work together with our user researchers, IoT developers, prototype builders, industrial designers and market analysts and contribute to our roadmap. With a global customer base of our Safran Cabin products being able to understand cultural specific user insights are a big pre. Part of the Cabin Research and Technology activities related to Connected Products and User Experience activities.

Summary of Duties:

·  • Work with the lead engineer to develop UI features and systems
·  • Collaborate with the UX designers to develop the user experience
·  • Gather and create specifications and requirements based on technical needs and maintain software documentation
·  • Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
·  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
·  • Stay updated on emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into Web UI designs
·  • Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation.
·  • Adhere to user experience design standards by following our digital style guide for all elements, such as buttons, fonts, forms, tables, colors, icons and navigation.
·  • Design great experiences with intuitive interfaces, simple information architecture, and a consistent design language
·  • Write user interface code (web/mobile) and server-side code
·  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and functional (E2E) tests
·  • Review user interface and optimize performance and resource utilization
·  • Self-manage programming task, schedule updates and coordinate with production team
·  • Collaborate with UX designers to define prototypes of web pages and components for best performance and user experience

Complementary description

·  • Provide responsive designs for all form factors including desktops, tablets and mobile
·  • Develop process flows, wire frames and mockups with accompanying interaction rules
·  • Help plan, coordinate and conduct user research, customer validation, and usability testing sessions
·  • Work with cross disciplinary teams to ensure team members understand the design and how it translates the requirements into an effective user interface
·  • Conduct preliminary and detailed hardware design reviews involving all design disciplines to ensure adherence to requirements. Document and address all issues in a timely manner.

Job requirements

Qualifications:
Education: BS Degree in Engineering, Cognitive Science, or Human Computer Interaction from a recognized institute
Experience:

·  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in UX Design & Innovation primary focused on digital interaction with mobile phones, web and other GUI's
·  • A proven interest and experience in UX design for IoT and interactions beyond screens is a pre
·  • Experience in location based services is a pre
·  • Experience in the aviation sector is nice to have but in the travel and mobility sector a pre Other Skills:
Core Skills

·  • Proven UX & UI skills for various platforms with an extended portfolio in: o Mobile & Tablet Apps
o Web Apps and other GUI's such as LCD displays

·  • UX / UI skills in IoT is a pre
·  • Design sketches, wireframes, paper prototypes and full clickable designs of finished products and or services
·  • Be part of Design & Innovation projects and work together with Cabin UX team on connected cabin strategy
·  • Support BU, Branch and Company Market Intelligence with passenger specific inputs R&T Skills

·  • Knowledge of UX & UI Design & Innovation principles and practices
·  • Work with the user research tools of Safran Cabin
·  • Experience in design thinking, co-creation, context research, creative facilitation and user interviews
·  • Shown ability to translate user insights, trends and data in problem statements, UX design concepts and finished product service solutions
·  • Be the lead in UX design & innovation projects People, Process & Analytical Skills

·  • Passenger interview skills
·  • Understanding of cultural differences, preferably able to build cultural bridges
·  • Proven emphatic skills to gain trust and ensure we not only get to understand the needs but also make them part of our passenger user group

·  • Knowledge of 3D & Graphic design and computer programming principles, tools, and technologies
·  • Knowledge of GUI development principles, tools, and technologies
·  • Knowledge of SaaS, database principles, tools, and technologies
·  • Experience in MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Invision or other UX prototype platforms
·  • Experience in UI programming using one or more languages such as Java, HTML/XHTML, JavaScript, Angular JS, React Native, CSS, Content Management tools and other relevant tools
·  • Unit Tests, Integration Tests, and End-to-End Test
