Safran Cabin Materials (formerly Zodiac Aerospace Engineered Materials)located in Newport, WA is recruiting for a:

QUALITY ENGINEER . The Quality Engineermust have a thorough understanding of quality principles, systems, methods, tools and standards and be dedicated to operational improvement. The Quality Engineer is the control point for the analysis, reporting and training for various production lines. This position will participate in the risk assessment process, run quality improvement and lean activities to work toward operational improvement in the facility. The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Quality Manager and interacts with various department managers. Other duties include, but are not limited to:

· Improve the product line’s process quality by conduct training on manufacturing quality assurance, lean manufacturing and SPC concepts and tools.

· Review and sign Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and engineering drawings.

· Work with facility personnel to drive the continuous improvement process.

· Track and ensure measurement and testing equipment is within calibration.

· Monitor and assist in the first article inspection (FAI) process and system.

· Write reports and standard work, perform employee training, and conduct statistical analysis.

· Ensure production tooling is inspected and conforms to specs prior to use.

· Ensure that measurement systems are appropriate for the work performed.

· Assist corrective action board (CAB) by being a member, provides problem solving / resolution.

· Will participate in risk assessment and mitigation activities

· Performs internal process and external audits to specifications. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate must have a thorough knowledge of AS9100, be highly organized, have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be motivated to become a proactive member of the quality team. Other requirements include:

· BS in Engineering or equivalent work experience/degree required

· 3 years minimum quality engineering experience required

· Experience with CMM inspection preferred

· Prior participation in SPC activities required

· Quality Engineering Certification a plus

· Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus

· NADCAP experience a plus

· Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA preferred

· Experience with Advanced Produciton Quality Planning (APQP) required

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required, experience in MRP systems a plus
