SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor assists Operations Manager in assuring that the department operates in the most profitable and efficient basis through proper utilization of assigned manpower, materials, equipment and space. This position is responsible for organizing all assigned resources to produce products according to the current schedule, and according to the approved Quality and Safety standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervise production team members performing production operations.
· Responsible for orientation and on the job training of team members in the safe, efficient operation of equipment. Instill good housekeeping of their immediate work area in all employees.
· Ensure cross-training of all the production team members.
· Responsible for maintaining manpower within the assigned department. Re-assigns team members on ‘low workload’ to eliminate unfavorable labor variances.
· Continuously analyze the assigned area of responsibility for improved methods of production, tool design, communication and reporting, cost controls and makes recommendations to Operations Manager for disposition.
· Observe production operations to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, and efficient operation of equipment. Takes corrective action with the assistance from the Operations Manager to eliminate any deviation.
· Consult with Production Leads and Team members regarding on the job problems to include low production, poor quality, poor attendance, tardiness, etc.
· Communicate with Production Control and Planning, Engineering, Quality and Supply chain departments to remove any production roadblocks. Report any obstacles immediately to the Production Manager/ Operations Manager.
· Assist Operation Manages in analyzing operations where cost standards are not being met to determine causes and apply corrective action.
· Ensure compliance with all safety procedures in assigned production areas.
· Actively participate in Health/Safety/Environmental investigations and Safety walk-throughs.
· Ensure proper control of workmanship to meet quality standards and work on a daily basis to improve quality through individual and team efforts.
· Possess thorough knowledge regarding the Employee Handbook, Quality Manual, Safety Policy, all rules, programs and procedures that pertain to production team members.
· Provide personnel evaluation based on the criteria selected by management (attendance, performance, attitude, potential, etc.) Recommend appropriate action (promotion, demotion, etc.).
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
