· OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

Perform the process of engineering Model and Drawing Release in the various systems involving CATIA/SmarTeam, ProE/Intralink, AutoCAD PDM/PLM system. The process includes checking 3D Models and 2D drawing files authored in CATIA V5 for correct configuration requirements, product structure, and life cycle rules as they move through workflows. These workflows include change control and release and may be manual today with automation getting added at planned intervals. Maintain positive contact with the engineers and engineering management staff while supporting the development of this model release process. Support training of other users of these systems / processes within the Release team. The position requires experience with CATIA V5; and with SmarTeam or similar PDM/PLM databases (example Agile, TeamCenter, Enovia, Windchill, SAP, etc.). Experience with “bottom up release” principles in an item centric PLM system is also necessary. Must understand and have knowledge of engineering configuration management for product structure within PLM systems.

This position supports configuration management, change control, CCB, release, and product structure/lifecycle management rules utilizing SmarTeam.

· DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Review the integrity of the database on a regular basis looking for new models never checked in, checked out items from ex-employees, old checked out models, etc.
· Provide release support for the use of SmarTeam for both designers and document control. Capable of identifying system or user errors.
· Able to review and perform analysis on 2D and 3D models for meeting checklist criteria.
· Rework database as necessary to fix links.
· Analyze product structures to ensure links are correct. Correct as necessary and reject to designer when needed.
· Releasing a part/product/drawing structure at latest intended CATIA version in SmarTeam
· Have a working knowledge of CATIA V5 and SmarTeam (or similar PLM system).
· Assist organizational and process development from a drawing centric operation to an item centric system (3D models are master and moving toward Model Based Definition/Enterprise).

h) Releasing a drawing in PDM systems (DPDM and/or DocsVision) after PLM System released. (ProE and CATIA)

I) Process improvements and reporting of release queue status.

j) Identify potential methods of streamlining the release process

k) Assist Document Control with (EOs, AutoCAD, OEM / Customer documents and internal documents for release, etc)

· QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

· Knowledge and skills:

· SmarTeam and/or similar PLM system required (example Agile, TeamCenter, Enovia, Windchill, SAP, etc.) SmarTeam preferred.
· Knowledge of Zodiac DPDM and/or DocsVision systems and release procedures preferred or similar document control software usage required.
· Product Lifecycle Management & release rules and data quality checklists
· SmarTeam Workflow experience
· Catia V5 2D and 3D modeling methods and model properties
· Catia V5 2D drawing generation
· Able to review 2D and 3D models for meeting checklist criteria
· Must understand engineering design and document release processes in a high volume project oriented operation
· Must have basic engineering design, product structure, and bill of materials skills
· Understanding of configuration management and database linking
· Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of engineers.
· Ability to support process development and testing of workflows
· Ability to document best practices and procedures.
· Ability to train others and small groups on new processes, procedures, and workflows.

· Education and/or Experience:

· At least an Associate Degree (A.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Design, Industrial Design, or related field of study is required; a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree is preferred.
· At least 2 years of Catia V5 experience required
· At least 2 years SmarTeam or similar PLM experience required including bottom up release methodology. SmarTeam preferred.
